Lee Tae-min (born July 18, 1993), also known as Taemin, is a South Korean musician, songwriter, actor, and dancer.

He debuted as a vocalist with the Shinee in May 2008 and has since gone on to become one of Korea's best-selling artists.

He began his acting career in 2009 with MBC's comedy Tae-Hee, Hye-Kyo, Ji-Hyun, as Junsu.

He is also a member of SuperM, the SM Entertainment supergroup. Ace, Taemin's first extended play, began his career in 2014, beginning in his solo career.

On the Gaon Album Chart in South Korea, it ranked first, and its title track reached number 5 on the Gaon Weekly Digital Chart.

Press It (2016), his first studio album, debuted at number one on the Gaon Album Chart.

Bruno Mars wrote "Press Your Number," the song's title track, but Taemin wrote new lyrics for the song in order to appeal to the Korean market.

In July, 2016, Taemin performed his second extended play, Solitary Goodbye, and made his solo debut in Japan. Taemin's sophomore full Korean album, Move, attracted a following thanks to its distinctive choreography.

Move-ing, the repackaged album, was followed by the self-written "Day and Night" as the title track on December 10, 2017.

Taemin, Taemin's first full Japanese album, came on during his first hall tour in Japan in 2018.

Want, Taemin's second Korean mini album, was released in February 2019 with the same name as the title track.

Personal life

Lee moved from Chungdam High School to Hanlim Multi Art School in March 2011 to accommodate his demanding schedule during Shinee's Japanese promotions. He graduated in February 2012 but was unable to attend the service due to the band's performances. Lee has been attending Myongji University since 2013, mainly in Film and Musicals. He claims to be Catholic.

Lee Tae-min was born on July 18, 1993. He joined SM Entertainment as a student with passion for singing and dancing, and he was selected to debut as a member of Shinee in 2008. On SBS' Inkigayo, the group officially debuted on May 25, 2008. In MBC's comedy Tae Hee, Hye Kyo, Ji Hyun, Ji Hyun as Junsu, Lee made his acting debut the following year. In January 2012, he appeared as the main character in the Korean version of the animated film Koala Kid. He has performed on Immortal Songs 2 as a contestant.

Lee released "U" for the drama To The Beautiful You on September 19, 2012. Lee, Eunhyuk and Super Junior-M's Henry, Girls' Generation's Hyoyeon, and Exo's Kai and Luhan, announced on October 16 as a six-member dance team for the Veloster theme song "Maxstep," the SM Entertainment and Hyundai team's joint venture. On October 17, PYL Younique Showcase premiered a video teaser of the song premiered.

Lee will be seen as his partner on the reality variety show We Got Married with Son Na-eun, replacing the previous couple Kwanghee and Sunhwa. Lee made his three-episode appearance on the drama Dating Agency: Cyrano as idol singer Yang Ho-yeol with stage name Ray in the same year. In June, he appeared in "Trap," a Super Junior-M's Henry solo album starring Kyuhyun and Super Junior's Kyuhyun. Lee appeared in the musical Goong in Japan in May 2014. Lee made his solo debut on August 18, 2014 with the introduction of his first extended play (EP) Ace. On South Korea's Gaon Album Chart, the six-song EP debuted at number one, while its lead single "Danger" debuted at number five, despite having reached fifth place on the Gaon Digital Chart. "Danger"'s music video was released on August 16, choreographed by American choreographer Ian Eastwood and SM Entertainment's performance directing team BeatBurger. Lee went to Los Angeles to get to know the routine.

Lee was confirmed for the cast of Match Made in Heaven Returns on February 3, 2015. Lee began JTBC's Off to School program on April 14 as a cast member. He performed "That Name" in collaboration with bandmate Jonghyun on June 1 for the soundtrack of KBS2's Who Are You: School 2015. On the Gaon Digital Chart, the album debuted at number 36.

On February 23, 2016, Lee released his first studio album Press It. The album featured ten songs, including Bruno Mars' lead single "Press Your Number," which was co-produced by Bruno Mars. "I did appear with Shinee on my EP, but I also spent a lot of time on my next solo album after that," Lee told reporters at a media preview hosted by bandmate Minho at the SM Town Coex Artium in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. [...] I took a lot of private lessons for voice and dance, as well as a look back at my previous songs. I've become a more efficient performer, so I want to say that." The album debuted on the Gaon Album Chart at number one.

Lee's Japanese debut was revealed with the EP Sayonara Hitori and a showcase on his 23rd birthday in June 2016. On July 27, the EP was released and featured four new songs as well as the Japanese version of "Press Your Number." Lee was confirmed to be part of Mnet's dance troupe Hit the Stage later in June. He was partnered with Koharu Sugawara, who choreographed his Japanese debut song "Sayonara Hitori," and finished first in the second episode.

In July 2017, Lee held his first solo concert in Japan at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, attracting 28,000 people. Flame of Love, his second Japanese EP, was released the same month. Off-Sick, Lee's first Korean concert, attracted a crowd of 12,000 people at the end of August. Encore Off-Sick concerts were announced on September 7 and took place at Jamsil Gymnasium on October 14 and 15. More shows in Japan followed this event later this year.

Final Life, Lee's first Japanese drama, was released in August 2017. The crime movie, directed by Masatoshi Kurakata and Takeshi Maruyama, was an original Japanese work for Amazon Prime Video and was released in September. Lee and Shota Matsuda appeared in it. "What's This Feeling" featured Lee on the soundtrack for the movie, as well as the singer. Through V Live, Taemin: Xtra Cam, his first reality show, The Taemin: Xtra Cam, was shown in the hopes of his forthcoming album and behind-the-scenes concert video.

In October 2017, Lee appeared on The Unit as a mentor. Move, his second studio album, was released the same month. Following a performance of the song that went viral in South Korea, its lead single of the same name drew notice for its unique choreography and ignited a trend called "Move Disease." The album debuted on the Gaon Album Chart and as number three on the Billboard World Albums Chart, with number two debuting. Move-ing, a repackaged Move-ing version, was announced on December 10. It included four new songs, including the lead single "Day and Night." Lee had been due to appear at the annual KBS Song Festival in the same month, but he had to cancel a week after bandmate Jonghyun's death last week.

Why Not? a JTBC programme Why Not? In May 2018, the Dancer appeared in May. He and Eunhyuk and Highlight member Lee Gi-kwang were on the show in Los Angeles to become choreographers. He later joined the Call, where he collaborated with musicians like Bewhy and UV. Lee embarked on Sirius, his first Japanese concert tour, beginning on September 20, 2018. It was composed of 32 sold-out shows in 16 cities, each attracting 100,000 people. Lee released Taemin, his third overall and first in Japan, on November 5.

On February 11, 2019, Lee released Want, his second Korean EP. Koharu Sugawara created the choreography for the title track. The EP hit various Billboard charts, including number four on World Albums, Lee's fifth appearance on record, and number five on Heatseekers Albums, a new career high. He followed the release of his second Korean concert T1001101, which appeared at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium from March 15 to 17.

On June 8, Lee began his first Japan arena tour, XTM, in Hokkaido. Thirteen shows were scheduled, with three more added in August to satisfy demand. Lee digitally released his third Japanese EP Famous on August 4, as part of EMI Records and Universal Music Japan's physical release on August 28. On July 26, 2019, the lead single and title track "Famous" was released, as well as a music video. The EP was the first album to do so, and it was his first appearance on the Oricon Albums Chart.

Lee debuted as a member of SuperM, a K-pop supergroup developed by SM Entertainment in collaboration with Capitol Records in August. The company's promotions began in October and were targeted at the American market. On October 4, SuperM's self-titled debut EP was released, with lead single "Jopping." Lee returned to Japan with his T1001101 concerts in December, including performances at Yokohama Arena and Osaka-j Hall over three days.

In March 2020, Lee was supposed to host Never Gonna Dance Again in Seoul, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He appeared on the internet reality show Rare-Taem, in which he completed missions based on board game findings. Never Gonna Dance Again, Lee's third Korean studio album, was released in two parts in September and November 2020, respectively. Critics also praised the project as one of the best K-pop launches of the year, alongside lead singles "Criminal" and "Idea."

In March 2021, Lee released the song "My Day" for the soundtrack to the tvN drama series Navillera's Navillera's Navillera. He revealed on April 19, 2021, during a broadcast on V Live that he would enlist for his mandatory military service on May 31, while serving as a member of the military band. Advice, his third Korean EP, was released on May 18. The album contained five songs, including the lead single of the same name. At an online concert called N.G.D.A., he viewed the single. He didn't dance again (Never Gonna Dance Again), and he performed on the Beyond Live website on May 2. Over 200,000 viewers from 119 countries attended the concert. Lee appeared in the 2020 Summer Olympics theme tune, which he performed before his enlistment.

Lee's military service as a public service employee was expected to cease operations as a result of worsening symptoms of depression and anxiety disorder on January 14, 2022.
