Brad Maddox Career

Professional wrestling career

Kluttz debuted on April 2, 2008 on the OVW tapings, partnering with Galvin Garrison against Dewey and Adam Revolver, which they lost, although they didn't. He won his first match in an Eight-Man Tag Team match on October 1, 2008. Galvin Garrison and Moose accompanied him in a game called Theta Lambda Psi. Kluttz lost in a title match against Aaron "The Idol" Stevens on December 24, 2008.

After being defeated, he took the name "Beef" and enlarged his gimmick to that of a necrophiliac. He appeared in his first match under his new name at OVW Tapings on January 14, 2009, defeating Ted McNaler and Adam Revolver, who lost. In April 2009, the Theta Lambda Psi Tag team was split, Kluttz first won a match against Moose and then lost one where he was struck with a paddle. He fought for the OVW Television Championship against Jamin Olivencia on July 26, 2009, defeating him for his first Championship. Moose, his ex Theta Lambda Psi mate at the OVW Tapings, was defeated for 45 days by his former Theta Lambda Psi mate Moose at the OVW Tapings on September 9, 2009. Kluttz won the vacant OVW Heavyweight Championship by winning a Battle Royal on February 27, 2010. He lost the title on May 29, 2010 to Mike Mondo, who lost it for 90 days. Kluttz had signed a WWE development deal in mid-2010.

Brad Maddox was renamed Brad Maddox and debuted for Florida Championship Wrestling at a live show on August 5, 2010, losing to Tyler Reks. On November 4, 2010, his television debut was against Tito Colon. On the 2011 episode of FCW against Percy Watson and Richie Steamboat, he won his first match. FCW Maddox defeated Briley Pierce 3 weeks later at the FCW Tag Team Championship in September 22nd, defeating CJ Parker and Donny Marlow, who lost. Briley Pierce won the Tag Team titles on the November 3 tapings for FCW. Pierce's injury on the 2nd tapings claimed their titles because of his injury. Maddox attempted to regain the vacant position with Eli Cottonwood, but they lost to Bo Rotundo and Husky Harris. On the first signed to Summer Rae's "organisation," she was ringside when Seth Rollins was defeated by Seth Rollins.

He earned the FCW Jack Brisco 15 Championship from Richie Steamboat on June 21, 2012. Rick Victor took the Florida Tag Team Championship on July 28, 2012, while hosting the FCW 15 Championship. As all of FCW's titles were rebranded as NXT Wrestling, he became the final holder for both titles.

Maddox was promoted to the main roster as a referee in August 2012, debuting on the August 20 episode of Raw as he refereed a Divas Battle Royal. Maddox, the main event of a Cell pay-per-view match between CM Punk and Ryback for the WWE Championship, was referenced by Maddox on October 28. Maddox stopped Ryback from winning the game and began to fast-count a pin for Punk, resulting in Punk keeping his crown and Maddox turning Maddox heel. Maddox related to his appearance on Raw's November 5 episode. He denied that he was not working for Punk, but that his activities were motivated by self-motivation. Maddox expressed his lifelong ambition of becoming a WWE wrestler, but WWE refused to bring him up, so he used the opportunity to play referee and assaulted Ryback to claim a deal to become a WWE wrestler. Maddox's request at a match against Ryback was granted by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, who gave Maddox's permission at a match against Ryback, but Maddox was promised a million dollar contract if Maddox wins. Maddox, who had a tumultuous victory over him and threw him into an ambulance next week, faced Ryback, who threw him into an ambulance.

Maddox returned in December 2012, joined by his personal cameraman, Carson, and boasting to be a "YouTube sensation." Vickie Guerrero, the Raw Managing Supervisor, told Maddox if he could beat Randy Orton, but Orton prevailed. After the game, the Shield struck Orton. The Shield had earlier helped Punk by attacking Ryback during the duo's WWE Championship match at Survivor Series to ensure Punk's continued reign as a champion and also denied an affiliation with Punk, as well as Punk. Maddox ended his pleas to SmackDown GM Booker T, who thrice promised him the opportunity to work against Brodus Clay, The Great Khali, and Sheamus, but Maddox lost all three matches. Maddox, as well as the Shield, had been working for Punk's boss Paul Heyman all along, although Punk did not appear in the video and said Heyman had behaved independently of him and without his knowledge on January 28. The Shield had already ordered the Shield to attack Maddox. Maddox turned in Carson's video to Vince McMahon and then proceeded to tell the Shield that "justice awaits you." The Shield responded to his challenge by wrangling his way into John Cena, Sheamus, and Ryback interfered.

After revealing that Paul Heyman and CM Punk were working with The Shield on the February 18 episode of Raw, Maddox was given the position as Assistant Raw Managing Supervisor by Vickie Guerrero. Maddox challenged Big E Langston for the NXT Championship on April 24 but was quickly dismissed. Maddox was named as the new General Manager of Raw on the August 8 episode, after Guerrero was fired as Raw Managing Supervisor after the fans found that she did not do well in her role.

Maddox was entwined by John Cena in the match between Bryan and Wade Barrett, where he gave Barrett the win after a fast count. Maddox declared himself as the guest referee in Bryan's match at SummerSlam, but Triple H's came out and announced himself as the referee instead of giving Maddox a Pedigree.

Maddox then formed an alliance with Randy Orton, where he placed Orton's opponents, Dolph Ziggler and Big Show, in handicap matches against The Shield. Maddox continued to have a tense match with Big Show, who retaliated in Stephanie McMahon's firing on the following night's Raw. Maddox was knocked out by Big Show later this week after interrupting him and suffering a concussion in the storyline.

Maddox appeared on Raw's November 11 episode, where he claimed his power to Randy Orton, but was interrupted by Operations Kane and Vickie Guerrero. Maddox was placed in a No Disqualification match against Orton by Triple H next week; Orton won the match by referee stoppage after Maddox lost track of the plot and was carried out on a stretcher after being yelled with a microphone 17 times. Maddox began to fight for control over who handled Raw better before forming an alliance with Kane, aiding him in his feud with CM Punk.

Maddox appeared in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on April 6, 2014, and Cody Rhodes and The Great Khali quickly defeated him. Maddox was GM for the night on the night on SmackDown's April 25 episode, where he was stabbed by The Shield. Maddox defied Triple H's instructions not to allow any member of The Shield to attend ringside by making Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns guest commentators. Maddox was relieved of his role as Raw General Manager by The Authority this week, before being confronted by Kane. Maddox was out of WWE television for the remainder of 2014, mainly working house shows.

Maddox appeared on Raw's backstage segment with Kane on April 6, 2015, before being interrupted by Seth Rollins. Maddox first appeared on live events in August, co-operating with Adam Rose under the banner "Beef Mode" where they lost to Damien Sandow and Curtis Axel. Maddox appeared under two different names during dark matches, Joshua Kingsley and Lord Ruffles on August 11, losing both matches against Zack Ryder later this month. Maddox made his television return on Friday's episode of Main Event, teaming up with Adam Rose in a losing effort against the Usos.

Maddox was officially released by WWE on November 25, after referring to the audience as "cocky pricks" during a dark match.
