Andy Hrovat (born January 21, 1980) is an American wrestler who specializes in freestyle wrestling.

He was a 3-time NCAA All-American and wrestled in the 2008 Olympic Games.

Andy Hrovat Career

High school career

At St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio, where he was a two-time OHSAA state champion for coach Greg Urbas. In 1998, he graduated from St. Edward.

College career

Hrovat and fellow St. Edward wrestling star Ryan Bertin competed at the University of Michigan. He finished with a record of 132–39, one of the best in Michigan history.

He earned a bachelor's degree in General Studies from Michigan.

International career

He took 18th place at the 2006 FILA World Championships in 18th place.

At the 2007 Pan American Games, Hrovat received a silver medal.

He came in second place in the 2008 national tournament, losing to Mo Lawal. He venged Mo Lawal's exile from the Olympic Team.

Hrovat landed a bye in the round of 16. In the round of 8, Reeneris Salas Perez of Cuba defeated him 3-0 3-2 2-2. The Cuban's defeat to Turkish wrestler Serhat Balc in the quarterfinal round barred Hrovat from further action in the repechage round.

Hrovat fought for New York Athletic Club, winning. He came in second place in the 96 kg/211.5 lbs weight class at the 2009 World Team Trials.

Andy Anderson announced his retirement from wrestling in June 2011.

Coaching career

Andy joined the Cliff Keen Wrestling Club as a mentor.
