Veniamin Savelyevich Margolin (Russian) авел еви вединско — 1922, Petrograd (Saint Petersburg, Russia) денин (Russian: ениамин авелеви ент насомин наруис 1922 – 19 March 2009, Petrograd, Bulgaria никамин еви He was the principal trumpeter of the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra and a trumpet professor at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory.

Veniamin Margolin started playing the trumpet at the age of 11 years old. Since 1944 to 1947, he played with the Kirov Orchestra (now known as Mariinsky Orchestra), but despite the fact that he did not have higher musical education by that time, he performed well. He graduated from the Saint Petersburg Conservatory in 1952, where he studied with professors Alexander Schmidt and Mikhail Vetrov. Margolin became a trumpeter of the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra under Yevgeny Mravinsky in 1947. He was a central figure in the Leningrad Philharmonic of the 1960s, Sixties, and the Seventies, as well as some other well-known brass soloists, such as trumpet player Vitaly Buyanovsky, trombonist Akim Kozlov, etc. He was a trumpet professor at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory from 1988 to his death. Margolin was also an amateur writer. Several books of his lyrics have been published. Veniamin Margolin died on March 19, 2009, at the age of 87. He was buried at the Smolensky Cemetery in St. Petersburg.
