Early life and discovery
Vyalitsyna was born in Gorky, Russia's (now Nizhny Novgorod). Both of her parents are doctors. Her father is a sports doctor for a youth team, and her mother is a pediatrician. After IMG Models scouted her in Saint Petersburg while looking for new faces for MTV's Fashionably Loud Europe, Vyalitsyna began her modelling career at the age of 15. After winning an event sponsored by IMG and MTV, she entered the competition and moved to New York. On November 16, 2013, she became an American citizen.
Personal life
Vyalitsyna completed the ING New York City Marathon in 2009. She joined a disabled athlete in the run for Achilles International and tweeted about the run in real time.
Vyalitsyna dated Adam Levine, the lead singer of Maroon 5, in 2011, and the pair appeared together on Vogue Russia's November 2011 cover. She has also appeared in Misery and Never Gonna Leave This Bed on the Maroon 5 music videos. In April 2012, the couple broke up. Matt Harvey, a baseball player who lived with Levine, dated baseball player Matt Harvey for eight months from 2013 to 2014.
Vyalitsyna revealed on March 19, 2015, she was pregnant with her first child by boyfriend Adam Cahan. On June 25, they welcomed their daughter Alaska, claiming that this name was chosen because Alaska is "where the United States and Russia meet." Vyalitsyna and Cahan got engaged on June 5, 2016, but by 2018, they had broken away by 2018.
Career
Vyalitsyna worked with Anna Molinari, Chloé, and Sportmax within six months of winning the competition. Vogue, ELLE, and Glamour have all had her covers. She made her debut in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2005 and has been included in it every year until 2014. In the 2005 edition, she was the object/subject of Joanne Gair body painting projects.
