Tooji Life

Touraj Keshtkar (born 26 May 1987), better known by his stage name Tooji, is a Norwegian-Iranian singer, painter, actor, and television host.

In the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Tooji represented Norway and finished 26th (last) in the final.

Personal life

Tooji has a bachelor's degree in child care. He has worked in asylum reception centers that support children and teenage refugees and human trafficking victims. This was inspired by his music and celebrity to reach out to those who suffer in silence. Tooji is both a promoter of LGBT and women's rights as well as a promoter of Iran's political transition movement. During his appearance in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 held in Baku, Azerbaijan, Tooji wore a Free Iran green bracelet.

Tooji came out as gay on the Norwegian website Gaysir in June 2015, saying that he wanted to make it easier for young gay people by being transparent about his sexuality. The Norwegian National Association for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Transgender People lauded his decision.

His EP and single "Father" were part of his coming out process by tackling the difficult subject of sex and the church. "My latest video "Father" is out, and so is he. "Italian Women are adamant to listen to the stories. "

Tooji is depicted and caped like a monk in the middle of his sermon and kisses him passionately after which the footage fades to the couple's having gay sex in front of the altar, prompting a lot of outrage. Ole Christian Kvarme, the Bishop of Oslo of the Lutheran Church of Norway, condemned the film as "completely intolerable" and "a gross misuse of the faith," accusing the video's designers of misinforming the church's administration prior to filming about the video's true contents.

As a result of the "Father" video and the Father Project, Tooji said he lost his position as a host to Melodi Grand Prix Junior, a younger version of Eurovision for younger participants. "The reason I was fired was because the music video was not consistent with being a role model for children," he explained. The Father Project is an attempt on organized religion's hypocrisy and willingness to sue others for being different. "The most important thing I've done in my life" Tooji characterized the project as "the most significant thing I've ever done in my life."

Tooji Career

Career

Tooji Keshtkar was born in Iran and moved to Norway when he was a year old. He began modelling at the age of 16. Since then, he began working on MTV Norway, where he hosted "Super Saturday" and "Tooji's Top 10" followed him. He was also trained as a social worker and has worked in asylum reception centers. He now works as a child protection specialist in the department of after-care.

He won Melodi Grand Prix 2012 and was given the opportunity to represent Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan, and earned his entry "Stay" which qualified from the second semi-finals and advanced to place 26th (last) in the final, scoring 7 points.

He received the international jury vote on behalf of Norway at the finals of Melodifestivalen 2012, the Swedish preselection. He presented the Norwegian votes for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden, on May 18, 2013.

Tooji has been competing in Norway since 2012, with Margrethe Red. He released "Rebels" in 2013. Tooji himself describes the "Rebels" as "dramatic pop-dance, with new organic elements mixed in with hard electronica."

He travelled to Stockholm to advance his music. "Packin' Guns" was the single released of the song. He blends electronic components with urban heavy and organic sound. To compare a dark and heavy beat, Tooji uses irony. His songs often convey a political and social message, despite his education and experience as a social worker. "Cocktail" by Tooji's single "Cocktail" addresses the gender roles in today's society. "We've started to raise daughters more like sons, but few have the confidence to raise our sons more like our daughters." He began his The Father project after being rejected. The single and EP Fathers that resulted from the project are concerned about sexual dynamics in the church and the church's hypocrisy in public positions. The music video for his upcoming single "Say Yeah" addresses homophobic hate crimes.
