Stella Nyambura Mwangi (born 1 September 1986), also known as STL, is a Kenyan-Norwegian singer, songwriter, and rapper.
Mwangi writes a lot of her songs about the situation in Kenya and fear of discrimination. Both Stella and her family had to go through before moving to Norway in 1991.
Her work has appeared in films including American Pie Presents: The Last Dance 2 and Save the Naked Mile, as well as in TV series such as CSI: New York and Scrubs. Early and personal life
Stella was born in Murang'a, Kenya's Central Province, in 1986, and spent her first five years there before her family moved to Eidsvoll, Norway in 1991. She began playing music when she was eight years old. She also plays piano. And far away from home, her mother made sure she and her siblings learned Gikuyu language and Swahili. Stella's music and her connection to Kenyan culture were influenced by cultural music and poetry, which inspired their languages.
In a hit-and-run accident in February 2012, Mwangi's father was killed.
