Googoosh Life

Faegheh Atashin (born 5 May 1950), better known by her stage name Googoosh, is an Iranian singer and actress who performed on Iran's most popular and enduring entertainers, with a career spanning 60 years.

Googoosh was not only a well-known singer at the start of her career, but by that time, she had established herself as a cultural icon both within and outside Iran.

Googoosh is best known for her contributions to Iranian pop music, but she has also appeared in a number of Persian films from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Towards the 1970s, she hit the pinnacle of her fame and success.

Googoosh's short haircut (known as the "Googooshy") was greatly imitated by Iranian women in the 1970s as they imitated her clothes (miniskirts) and her short haircut (known as the "Googooshy).

She remained in Tehran until 2000 and did not appear again due to the ban on female singers following the 1979 Iranian Revolution.

Younger Iranian people have rediscovered her music through bootleg recordings.

In 2000, she performed a total of 27 concerts in European and North American countries.

She has appeared in concerts around the world, including the Grand Prix in Toronto, a new collaboration with Iranian singer-songwriter Hassan Shamaizadeh from her 2012 album Ejaz, as well as serving as head judge and head of academy for the London-based television network Manoto 1.Since returning to the stage in summer 2000, she has appeared in concerts all around the world and in some of the country's most prestigious venues, including the Madison Square Garden in Toronto, the Air Canada

She has performed in many languages, including Persian, Azerbaijani, Turkish, English, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Armenian, and French.

She has a large fan base in many other Middle Eastern countries, Afghanistan, as well as other Central Asian countries, and has even captured the attention of European and African media and journalists.

Her overall reputation and contributions to Iranian pop music made her the most popular female pop singer in the Persian speaking world.

Personal life

Googoosh has three half-brothers on her father's side as well as a brother and sister on her mother's side. In his youth, one of her brothers died.

Mahmoud Ghorbani, a music promoter who had aided Googoosh in the 1960s, was the first husband. In February 1967, Googoosh and Ghorbani married. They had a son, Kambiz, when they were born. Ghorbani and Googoosh divorced in late 1972 after about six years of marriage. In 1975, Googoosh married Iranian actor Behrouz Vossoughi; they divorced 14 months later in 1976. During their brief marriage, they were considered to be the country's most prominent celebrity power couple. Googoosh was detained for over a month following the Iranian Revolution in 1980. Googoosh first became involved with Homayoun Mesdaghi in the late 1970s and married him in 1979. She divorced Mesdaghi in 1985, six years later. Masoud Kimiai was then married in 1991. In 2005, the couple divorced.

"Love, music, and a lot of fruit," she said in response to a query raised by an interviewer about how she stays young in 2018. "I am a fan of the 'Odo's "real life."
