Career

He began his theatre training at Tower Hall Theatre Foundation after dropping out of school. Thusitha was first involved in dramatic drama with Fontamarawa in 2000. In 2002, he returned to The Doll's House. He spent most of his time as a stage manager from 2002 to 2007, and in 2007 he appeared in Swayankreet's production of Swayankreethawa, Sindu Pahai, Security, and Romeo and Juliet. For three of these roles, he received national Best Actor accolades. He appeared in the play Ada Vage Davasaka Antigone, directed by Priyankara Rathnayake.

Pissanta Mama Aadarai, a short play, was produced in 2006.

Having seen him on stage, film director Vimukthi Jayasundara cast Wellington in his film Ahasin Watei. This film was shown at several film festivals, including Venice and Toronto. In November 2010, the premiere of the New York stage at New York had a New York performance. In July 2009, Ahasin Watei's film was on view at the Venice International Film Festival, and Thusitha was invited to attend, but the Italian embassy refused to grant a visa. Gamini Fonseka, the only Sri Lankan actor to have been accepted for the Venice Film Festival, has been responsible for the film Nidhanaya.
