Eddie Jayamanne Life

Don David Victor Jayamanne KBE (January 1915 – July 1981), also known as Eddie Jayamanne, was a well-known Sri Lankan comedian and actor from early Sri Lankan cinema. B. hailed from a Christian family in Negombo, Eddie, along with his brother B. In the 1930s, A. W. Jayamanne founded the Minerva theater troupe.

They ran plays in which naive Ceylonese characters would be compared to Western ones, combining South Indian theatre with Western drama in a satirical manner.

Eddie, a regular performer in these comedies, became a well-known theater actor in the years leading up to the development of Sri Lankan cinema.

After falling in love through their participation in the same plays, Eddie married Rukmani Devi, a Minerva troup player.

Devi's parents objected to their participation in court, but their unions were allowed to continue with their marriage. S. M. Nayagam, a South Indian producer, became interested in making a Sri Lankan film in 1947.

He called B. He called B. A. W. Jayamanne obtained the rights to one of his plays, Kadawunu Poronduwa.

Eddie will be one of the many characters in this film adaptation of Manappuwa's village simpleton role, starring Jemini Kantha as Josi Baba.

The film, which was the first film to feature Sinhalese dialogue, received a huge audience and was a huge success. The Jayamanne brothers portrayed the film's triumph with several other play adaptations i.e. Hadisi Vinishchaya (1949), Sengawunu Pilithura (1951), and Umathu Wishwasaya (1952).

With Hadisi Vinishchaya, Mabel Blythe joined the cast.

For the first time in Sri Lankan cinema, the brothers converted a book into film (Kele Handa).

Their subsequent films include Iranganie (1954), Matha Bedhaya (1955), Perakadoru Bena (1955), Kawata (1960), and Mangalika (1963).Eddie's film work in Sandesaya (1961) includes playing a musician, the brother of a village simpleton who finds a jewel and becomes wealthy in Kolomba Sanniya (1976).

In a reimagining of Kadawunu Poronduwa that was first published in 1982, he reprised his role as Manappuwa.

Early life

He was born in Periyamulla, Negambo, on February 15, as the youngest of the family's seven children. W. Don Thomas, Thomas' father, was a teacher at Maris Stella College. He was educated at the Cross College of Negombo, St. Peter' College, Negombo, Negombo, St. Mary's College, Negombo, Negombo, Maris Stella College. B. He was his elder brother. A. W.
