Tammar Anika Chin (born 14 June 1984), also known as Tami Chynn, is a Jamaican singer, songwriter, and dancer.
Early life
Chynn was born in Kingston, Jamaica. Richard Chin, her father, is of Jamaican and Chinese descent, and her mother, Christine Chin, is also a Jamaican national, is of English and African descent. Tessanne Chin, her younger sister, and her parent, The Carnations, are among the many people to win Season 5 of the US singing competition The Voice as part of Adam Levine's team.
Tami grew up in St. Andrew's parish and attended St. Peter and Paul Preparatory School. She later attended Campion College in St. Andrew, Jamaica. At age 14, she migrated to Leamington Spa, United Kingdom, where she spent three years studying the performing arts, and then moved to Jamaica, where she performed on her music and released her first single "Rock U."
Tami developed the Anuna and Anuna Goddess collections in 2010 with Slovakia-born fashion designer Lubica Kucerova. The collection debuted at 2010 Fashion Art Week in Toronto: Alternative Arts Fashion Week. The pair will be nominated at The Jamaica Observer Style Awards later this year and named Designer of the Year.

In 2009, Tami married fellow reggae/dancehall artist Wayne Marshall. The couple have four children together: Jax 8yrs, Atlas 5yrs, and Oz 2yrs) and their first daughter (Ivy 2wks).
Music career
Shaggy performed as a backup dancer on his Caught Red Handed Tour before embarking on music. She travelled to Los Angeles in early 2005 to appear on Universal Motown Records, and in May she was signed to the major label for a four-album contract. She appeared on Beenie Man, Lady Saw, and Sean Paul's album "All on Me" before releasing her debut album in the United States.
She was nominated for Best New Entertainer Award at the International Reggae and World Music Awards in March 2006, but Matisyahu was unable to receive the award to reggae artist Matisyahu. Tami was discovered by Akon, who lent her name Konvict Muzik, and started making her second album Prima Donna in 2008. The album's recording began in January in Akon's Atlanta studios with Akon and RedOne executive producer Jay Carter. In August 2008, Frozen (featuring Akon), the album's lead single, was announced. On March 22, 2008, she toured the United Kingdom and appeared on BBC Radio 1Xtra and performed Frozen.
She appeared in a Pepsi commercial with Verne Troyer, T-Pain, and Shaggy, performing a recreation of Carl Douglas' classic disco track Kung Fu Fighting with vocals from Akon in September 2008. On the Block Tour in October 2008, she opened for New Kids on the Block, alongside Lady Gaga, Natasha Bedingfield, and Colby O'Donis. She also appeared in Akon's video "I'm So Paid." Prima Donna remains unveiled after breaking with Universal; however, Tami Chynn has confirmed that she is currently working on a new album that will be a second release.
