Elizabeth Rebecca Mitchell (born 12 July 1952) is a British vocalist best known as the former lead singer of Boney M., a 1970s disco/reggae band.
Early life
Mitchell was born in Clarendon, Jamaica. Mitchell and her family immigrated to London, England, in 1963; her childhood home was in the district of Harlesden. She auditioned for Hair and then moved to Berlin to replace Donna Summer in Berlin, where she later replaced Donna Summer in the German cast. Mitchell performed for Hair for a few years and represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest with the Ralph Siegel name "Sing Sang Song." The band was then limited to six singers (Liz was not one of them) for the show, and it finished in 15th position with only 12 points at the start of the season as a band.
