Shin Se-kyung (born July 29, 1990) is a South Korean actress, singer, and model.

She began as a child actress and had her breakthrough with the sitcom High Kick Through the Roof in 2009.

Since then, she appeared in Hindsight (2011), R2B: Return to Base (2012), The Girl Who Sees Smells (2014), The Bride of Habaek (2017), and Black Knight: The Man Guards Me (2017–2018). Forbes named her among the country's most influential celebrities, ranking her 26th in 2011 and 12th in 2012.

Shin was born in Yangcheon, South Korea, on July 29, 1990. She attended Shinmok High School before enrolling in Chung-Ang University, where she majored in Performing Arts.

Career

Shin made her debut in 1998 when she was featured on the front and poster for Seo Taiji's solo album Take Five. Shin Se Kyung, a child actress, was already well-known to the Koreans for her role in Ppo Ppo Ppo, which also starred Big Bang's G-Dragon, where she spent her childhood hosting youth shows.

She appeared in Cinderella, omnibus films Acoustic and Five Senses of Eros, as well as a well-received role as Princess Cheonmyeong's younger cousin in Queen Seondeok after a small role in My Little Bride.

Shin's career as a housemaid on the second season of the popular TV sitcom High Kick! In 2009, there were still no such people in the United States. Shinn landed on numerous television commercials and print ads, making her one of the most popular celebrity endorsers, despite being based on her sitcom fame. Lead roles in high-profile acting roles followed by Hindsight with Song Kang-ho, the highly rated historical drama The Rooted Tree with Jang Hyuk and Han Suk-kyu, and aerial action film R2B: Return to Base with Rain.

Despite this, Shin's newest project, Fashion King (2012), was poorly received by audiences, particularly because of its controversial conclusion. Shinn performed "You Were Sweet," her first digital song, which she recorded to advertise a coffee chain she represents. Shine contributed to the soundtrack of Hindsight, the charity album Love Tree Project's charity initiative, as well as doing her own singing in showcase piece Acoustic. In 2012, she performed a Christmas carol duet with Epitone Project.

Shin returned to television in the 2013 melodrama When a Man Falls in Love opposite Song Seung-heon, but viewers have expressed concern for her passive portrayal. In 2014, she appeared in the gambling film Tazza: The Hidden Card, followed by the fantasy-action film Blade Man.

Shine played an aspiring comedian in the webtoon adaptation The Girl Who Sees Smells in 2015. In Six Flying Dragons (2015–2016), Shin's second period drama from the screenwriters of Deep Rooted Tree, Shin then reunited with Fashion King Yoo Ah-in.

Shin starred in TvN's fantasy-romance drama The Bride of Habaek in 2017, alongside Nam Joo-hyuk. This is followed shortly by another fantasy-romance drama, Black Knight: The Man Who Guards Me, starring Kim Rae-won.

Shin appeared in the historical drama Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung with Cha Eun-woo. Shin appeared in JTBC's romance drama Run On, alongside Im Si-Wan, from 2020 to 2020.

Shin has signed a long-term deal with EDAM Entertainment (a Kakao Entertainment affiliate) after her Namoo Actors deal came to an end on July 5, 2021.
