Kim Soo-hyun (born 25 January 1985), also known as Claudia Kim, is a South Korean actress and model.

She made her debut in November 2006 as she appeared in the television drama Queen of the Game.

Early life

Kim Soo-hyun was born in South Korea on January 25, 1985, and he was born as Kim Soo-hyun. She spent six years in the United States before returning to South Korea. Her goal in middle school was to become a worldwide lawyer, and in high school, she aspired to become a TV anchor. Karuna Shinsho, CNN's headline news anchor in Asia, inspired her. She enrolled in graduate school abroad to pursue her ambitions of becoming an anchor and earned her degree at Ewha Womans University as an International Studies (DIS) major. She worked as a reporter and announcer for three years in Ewha Voice, the school's English-language newspaper. She has also worked as an intern reporter for The Korea Times and Arirang TV.

Personal life

On December 14, 2019, Kim married Korean-American businessman Cha Min-geun (also known as Matthew Shampine) at the Hotel Shilla in Seoul.

She revealed that she was expecting her first child in April 2020 and was 15 weeks pregnant. On October 1, she gave birth to her daughter.

Career

Kim's passions in music, film, and other entertainment led her to compete in a Korea-China modeling competition in 2005, where she received the top prize. Kim was the first winner of the competition that had never worked as a model.

On a morning talk show, producer Oh Se-kang met Kim, which culminated in her first appearance in the television series Queen of the Game (2006). Kim plays Park Joo-won, a Lee Shin-jeon (Joo Jin-mo) and a multinational lawyer who adores him. She received the New Star Award at the 2006 SBS Awards for Acting for the drama.

Kim went on to appear in supporting roles in medical drama Brain (2011) and spy comedy 7th Grade Civil Servant (2013), as well as a leading role in the sitcom Standby (2012). Kim gained international recognition for her appearances in Marco Polo (2014) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).

In the 2018 film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Kim depicts Nagini.

Max Mara, an Italian fashion house, has welcomed her to attend the annual "Women in Film Gala," which has advocated for women and gender equality in the film industry since 1973. Hence, she became the first Korean actress to attend the festival.

Kim signed with new company YG Entertainment in March 2021.

Kim will appear in the 1945 historical drama Gyeongseong Creature, which will be shown on Netflix, in 2023.
