Career

Jung made her acting debut in 2010 as a supporting actress in the television series Bad Guy, attracting a lot of curiosity. This culminated in her debut in Playful Kiss, the Korean translation of the famous manga Itazura na Kiss. Despite poor ratings in Korea, Jung's romantic comedy was also very popular in foreign countries, raising Jung's profile.

Jung took a short break in 2011 to concentrate on her studies at the Korea National University of Arts. She returned to the small screen in 2012 as part of the ensemble cast of the sitcom Standby. She appeared in a more mature role opposite Sung Joon in the cable series Can We Get Married? later this year.

Jung left her talent agency Bloom Entertainment in 2013 and joined SM Culture & Contents. She appeared in Came to Me and Became a Star, a single-episode anthology Drama Special.

Jung played a self-centered heiress who falls for the protagonist in Big Man, a self-centered heiress played by Kang Ji-hwan. This was followed by a leading role in Alice's coming-of-age film Twenty in 2015 and tragedy-medical drama D-Day.

In 2016, Jung appeared in a Drama Special The Red Teacher. In December of the same year, she was then cast as the female lead in The Sound of Your Heart opposite Lee Kwang-soo. The web drama in China was a huge success, with more than 100 million views on Sohu.

Jung was cast in the KBS family drama My Father Is Strange in 2017. She appeared in the body-swap comedy Daddy You, Daughter Me opposite veteran actor Yoon Je-moon. She then left SM Culture & Contents in June and joined Jellyfish Entertainment, a new management company. She confirmed her appearance in tvN's romantic comedy series Because This Is My First Life with Lee Min-ki in August. For the drama, she also released an OST "Because You Are Beside Me."

In 2018, Jung was chosen to lead the Smile Has Left Your Eyes. This is an adaptation of the 2002 Japanese television series Sora Ichioku no Hoshi, where she also appeared as an OST "Star" with her co-star Seo In-guk. She appeared in the historical comedy film Homme Fatale the same year. Jung So Min's Young Street, her first radio show on SBS Power FM, brought her dream of becoming a radio DJ someday.

Jung left Jellyfish Entertainment in August 2019 and joined Blossom Entertainment, a new management firm. She then became a cast member of Little Forest, which is intended as a children's garden development project. In December, she resigned from her DJ position in Jung So Min's Young Street.

Jung starred in Soul Mechanic in 2020, alongside Shin Ha-kyun, where she played a musical rising star with vexing anger management issues.

She appeared in Park Joon-hwa's fantasy romantic comedy My Roommate Is a Gumiho in 2021, as the woman whom protagonist Jang Ki-yong adored in the past. Kim Ji-seok, the actress of a television romance drama, appeared in the magazine 'Monthly House', alongside Kim Ji-seok as an editor.'

Jung returned to the small screen in 2022 with the tvN drama Alchemy of Souls starring Lee Jae-wook. Jung joined the TH Company in August. Jung returned to the big screen in September for the first time in three years with Project Wolf Hunting, a sci-fi film.
