Career

Smith's first acting role was as a national television commercial for Dannon yogurt in 1991.

Smith made her debut in Second Stage's Wildflower, starting in theatre. Amy Sherman-Palladino, tentatively named Wyoming, was cast for a sitcom on The CW, but only a pilot was produced because the project was not picked up by the network. The Wyoming Story is the pilot film.

Smith appeared on NCIS: Los Angeles, in 2010. Smith's role was extended to the main cast after she impressed the designers with her acting initially intended to be just a recurring character.

In 2011, Smith played Missy as a supporting character in Detachment.

Smith began co-creating a children's book series based on her French bulldog, Hugo.
