Early life
Sand studied ballet, jazz, and theatre from the age of five. She began studying at the School of Creative and Performing Arts in San Diego, California, at the age of 11, and by 13, she received a dance scholarship with Ballet West in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Sand was married to Lorenzo Lamas from 1996 to 2002.
Career
At the age of nine, she began modeling. She took time off modeling and moved to Paris and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in international business administration from the American University of Paris.
