Roxane Gay Career

After completing her Ph.D., Gay began her academic teaching career in 2010 at Eastern Illinois University, where she was assistant professor of English. While at EIU, she was a contributing editor for Bluestem magazine, and she also founded Tiny Hardcore Press. Gay worked at Eastern Illinois University until the end of the 2013–14 academic year. She was an associate professor of creative writing in the Master of Fine Arts program at Purdue University from August 2014 until 2018. Gay announced her departure from Purdue in October 2018, voicing concerns about the fairness of her compensation and noting Purdue had failed to address the issue. For the spring of 2019 Gay was serving as a visiting professor at Yale University.

Gay published a short-story collection, Ayiti (2011), then two books in 2014: the novel An Untamed State and the essay collection Bad Feminist (2014). A Time review noted: "Gay's writing is simple and direct, but never cold or sterile. She directly confronts complex issues of identity and privilege, but it's always accessible and insightful."

In the midst of Sophie Turner's tumultuous divorce from Joe Jonas, Jessica Chastain shows her love for her friend Sophie Turner

Jessica Chastain has shown her love for pal Sophie by retweeting a tweet from another account that slammed Joe. Jess retweeted a tweet from activist Roxane Gay, who said, "The way Joe Jonas has miscalculated his fame with his transparent attempts at PR manipulation, especially when the North remembers is FASCINATING.' And holding the children's passports to keep them from their mother? Bruh.'

More than 100 Hollywood stars have sluggishly screamed for the "right to live" in NYT

The paper's open letter, delivered to the Times on Wednesday, states that it is obtaining "bias, fringe theories, and inaccurate information" in its coverage of transgender people, as well as "the lead of a far-right hate group" in its coverage of transgender issues. Nearly 170 Times contributors, some of whom are transgender, non-binary, and gender-conforming, signed the letter, which included hundreds of professionals in the entertainment industry, as well as leading advocates, activists, and organizations in the LGBTQ community.

Meghan's 'racist' royal family is dismantled, according to a New York Times opinion piece on the subject

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 19, 2022
The New York Times has been chastised for an opinion piece that accused the British Royal Family of bigotry and suggested that Meghan Markle must pay with "her life" to marry into the organization. Harry and Meghan were'saving their lives' by leaving royal life and'securing what peace of mind they might have gained from the wreckage of the previous three years of trying to obtain royal support,' according to contributing opinion writer Roxane Gay. The Sussexs,' says Gay,'should not shield them from bigotry that eventually caused the friction between them and the royal family.' 'We saw, in real time, how much money the crown was able to extract from an outsider, up to and including her life.' The opinion column is the latest in a series of recent New York Times editorials that are critical of the United Kingdom. Piers Morgan wrote: "My God." The Monarchy's demolished Britain and our royal family is published in the New York Times. This is what the Sussexes have done with all their lies: made the world see us as a gang of callous racials.'
