Ricky Banderas Life

Gilbert Cosme (born May 25, 1975) is a Puerto Rican professional wrestler best known by his ring names El Mesas, Mil Muertes, and Ricky Banderas.

He began his career with the International Wrestling Association, which is based in Puerto Rico.

He won the IWA World Heavyweight Championship on five occasions and held minor championships on fifteen occasions before leaving the organization in 2006.

On March 12, 2006, he debuted in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), a Mexico-based organization, as a character named Muerte Cibernetica and was directly involved in an angle where this character was "killed."

Cosme appeared on the tapings of the Wrestling Society X television show in November 2006, where he was the second and last wrestler to win the WSX Championship. Following a month of participating in the International Wrestling Association, Cosme returned to AAA in a special case held by the organization, this time under the ring name El Mesas.

The corporation held a unification tournament in September 2007, which featured all of the champions and first competitors.

He won the GPCW Super-X Monster Championship and IWC World Heavyweight Championship over the course of the competition, and on the tournament's finale, he became the first wrestler to win the AAA Mega Championship.

Cosme began as Judas Mesias on September 13, 2007 while living in Mexico.

In March 2008, TNA's relationship came to an end, and he concentrated the majority of his time on AAA.

In 2010, Cosme made his debut for the Puerto Rican World Wrestling Council, where he took home the Universal Heavyweight Championship.

Mil Muertes, the ring name, also fights in Lucha Underground. Cosme has represented Puerto Rico as a member of Team Rest of the World in the 2015 Lucha Libre World Cup and as the captain of Team International in the 2013 World Cup of Wrestling.

Ricky Banderas Career

Professional wrestling career

When Cosme was instructed by a former wrestler, he began wrestling training in 1996. After completing two years of study, he decided to start wrestling as a profession after meeting Vctor Quiones in the gym. He went to Mexico and performed there in 1997, and became involved with the World Wrestling Federation's initiative to develop Hispanic talent.

In 1999, Cosme was the first woman to represent the International Wrestling Association (IWA). According to Cosme, he was given the nickname "El Patriota" Ricky Banderas, a term that was created by fusing the artistic names of Latin singer Ricky Martn and actor Antonio Banderas. He made his debut in Extreme Championship Wrestling that year, where he appeared in a televised match. His character was joined with Germán Figueroa, who competed as Gran Apolo, and formed a tag team named La Nueva Generacion, which won the IWA Tag Team Championship three times. Cosme's character on Gran Apolo was revealed on August 21, 2000, in a show in Levittown, Puerto Rico. Following this, he joined Los Intocables, the company's most popular heel stable, as well as Miguel Pérez and Jess Castillo. After the stable's dissolution, he was involved in another stable named Starr Corporation, where Cosme's insistence grew darker and became renamed "El Mesas" Ricky Banderas. He and Shane Sewell were partnered in a stable called Los Hermanos en Dolor as a result of this. In 2001, Cosme appeared in a tryout match for the World Wrestling Federation and Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling's 12th Anniversary Show pay-per-view tournament. On June 15, 2002, he captured the IWA heavyweight championship for the third time, and remained champion until Ray González debuted with the organization as "Rey Fénix" in a match he says was the best match he had ever wrestled at the time.

When it joined then-dominant heel stable "La Compa," directed by Savio Vega, Cosme's gimmick underwent another transformation. After beating Gran Apolo on January 6, 2003, he was swept into his fourth title run. He was not booked as a heel until October 9, 2003, when Vega's crew found him on him. He fought with Christopher Kindred under his "Slash Venom" gimmick, which culminated when Vampiro was brought by the firm to a stable that rivals Gran Apolo and Venom. Hangman Hughes, Kasey James, El Diamante, and Bison feuded in 2004. He went back to heel in 2005, this time leading La Cruz del Diablo, a violent opposition group led by Savio Vega and Ray Gonzalez. Cosme resigned from the company and signed a deal to wrestle in Mexico following an incident where he feuded over a number one contender spot. He went on to make sporadic appearances for the company, including a brief stay in 2007. In the promotion's tenth anniversary celebration, Cosme was scheduled to defeat Dennis Rivera on July 19, 2009.

Following the conclusion of his World Wrestling Association (AAA) deal, Cosme signed a Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. He debuted on March 12, 2006 as "Muerte Cibernética," a violent (villainous) enforcer who was allegedly taken to the company by Cibernético to compete with "La Parka." This gimmick featured Cosme wearing a traditional Mexican wrestling mask, often a modified version of the one used by La Parka. This particular was born in a long-running feud with La Parka. At Triplemania XIV, where Cosme's character was supposed to miss a Mask vs. Match of a mask.

Following a legitimate injury suffered by Cibernético, Cosme's gimmick was marginally improved, taking him to a position where he sought to capture Cibernético's leadership, which then went by the name of La Secta Cibernetica. After reportedly compelled several members of the family to join him in La Secta Diabólica, the actor was supposed to be the head of the stable. The events of the tale were used to advertise an imminent war between López and Cosme's characters, which took place in December 2006. Cosme won the first encounter between the two teams with the support of his stable in the field. The situation culminated in a Casket match between the two characters. Cibernético had been guaranteed to win the match and then "kill" his opponent by throwing him into a working volcano. This was used to explain Cosme's absence when he left the company to wrestle in the International Wrestling Association. During this period, he also competed for the Panama Wrestling Crew in Panama and Ecuador.

Following a month of appearance in Puerto Rico, Cosme returned to AAA in the form Rey de Reyes, a new gimmick, renaming him El Mesas. From there, he began to get a bigger following as a main event heel, feud with Cibernético, and his stable "Los Hell Brothers." Cosme, both the leader of La Secta del Mesas and a member of La Legión Extranjera, was a participant of the conflict. In the preliminary rounds of the AAA Mega Championship tournament, Cosme claimed both the IWC heavyweight championship from Cibernético and the GPCW SUPER-X Monster Title from La Parka. After beating Chessman (Kevin Citlali Zamora) by disqualification, Mesas became the first wrestler to win the AAA Mega Championship in AAA's pay-per-view event Verano de Escandalo. In a triple threat match titled Guerra de Titanes on November 29, 2007, he successfully defended the company's title in a pay-per-view match titled Guerra de Titanes. After several months of inactivity, he returned to AAA in March 2008. Cosme lost the championship to Cibernético on March 16, 2008. He was later implicated in an attempt with Vampiro, triggering a match at Triplemania XVI, which ended in a time-limit draw. Cosme won the Copa Antonio Pea on October 24, 2008, defeating six other wrestlers in the process. Joaqun Roldán was in charge of presenting the appropriate trophy. Cosme defeated El Zorro for the second time on December 6, 2008, at Guerra de Titanes. (Jess Martez) He also did a perfect técnico (fan favorite) turn, asking for restitution for what he did while in AAA. Dr. Wagner, Jr., the Rey de Reyes, 2009, was stabbed directly after the match on March 15, 2009. On June 13, 2009, he was scheduled to lose the Grand Prix to Wagner at Triplemania XVII.

The feud raged for several months before he regained the title on December 11, 2009 at the main event of Guerra de Titanes. At the 2010 Rey de Reyes event, Cosme's third reign as AAA Mega Champion came to an end on March 12, 2010. He was not supposed to lose, but Electroshock (Edgar Luna Pozos) defeated Mr. Anderson (Ken Anderson), the third wrestler in the tournament, to win the championship. El Mesas' leaders, El Perro Ayo, began feuding with invaders from Los Perros del Mal, the group's leader El Perros del Mal, in particular. When Ayo pinned Mesas after striking him with a chair on August 14, he defeated L.A. Park, El Mesas, Cibernético, and La Parka. Héroes Inmortales IV El Mesas gained a measure of revenge on Ayo by defeating him in a singles match on October 1st. El Mesas won the 2010 Lucha Libre Premiership on November 1st. The first two rounds of the tournament were contested in a parejas increibles style, with El Mesas collaborating with Electroshock. El Mesas and Dr. Wagner, Jr., will meet in the semifinals after the two teams of Extreme Tiger and L.A. Park and Cibérnetico and Hernandez advanced to the finals. El Mesas defeated El Zorro in the tournament's finals on November 28 to win the 2010 Lucha Libre Premiership. Mesas then engaged in a feud with La Sociedad member L.A. Park, who beat him on December 5 at Guerra de Titanes after using a chair. After losing in the finals of the 2011 Rey de Reyes tournament on March 18, 2011, Rey de Reyes, El Mesas, and Park were all disqualified. In a Mask vs. a Mask, El Mesas tried, and Park accepted, for the two to bring an end to their feud at Tripleman's XIX. Match of hair. Park beat El Mesas on June 18 at TripleMan's XIX, requiring him to have his head shaved. El Mesas returned to AAA a month later at Verano de Escándalo, saving Dr. Wagner, Jr. of La Sociedad. El Mesas fought TNA performer Sting to a no contest in what was billed as a "dream match" by AAA on October 9, despite La Sociedad's interference. Jeff Jartt, the match's manager, had been put together in an attempt to discourage El Mesas from pursuing his championship. El Mesas defeated TNA entertainers A.J. on December 16 at Guerra de Titanes. Styles and Rob Terry are competing in back-to-back matches to establish themselves as the top contender for Jartt's title. El Mesas won the AAA Mega Championship for the fourth time on March 18, 2012. El Mesas underwent surgery on his arm on April 23, and as a result, he was barred from participating in ring competition for three months. El Hijo del Perro Ayo was credited with the injury in the storyline. El Mesas returned on July 13 to attack Ayo and his Perros del Mal stable. El Mesas successfully defended the AAA Mega Championship against Ayo on August 5 at Tripleman's XX. On December 2, Guerra de Titanes' El Texano, Jr., went on to lose the title to El Texano, Jr. El Mesas triumphed the 2013 Rey de Reyes tournament in the finals on March 17, 2013. El Mesas' supporters gathered in October with two of their former rivals, Cibernético and El Hijo del Perro Ayo, to fight the Secta unconstitutional, after its members had turned against Cibernético. Ayo turned rudo on December 8 at Guerra de Titanes, sparking La Sociedad's restitution. El Mesas won fellow técnico Electroshock's hair in a six-way steel cage Lucha de Apuestas on August 17, 2014.

El Mesas turned on Blue Demon Jr. and La Parka on March 6, 2015, marking his return to the rudo side. He joined La Sociedad shortly afterwards. Mesas and Pagano won the AAA World Tag Team Championship on May 26, 2017 after defeating Dark Family (Cuervo and Scoria). The Dark Family regained the titles at Verano de Escándalo nine days later. Pagano and Mesas fought in a Street match that culminated in a no-contest at TripleManXXV. Both knees were injured in November 2017 when Banderas suffered. He returned to action in Rey de Reyes, where he was defeated by La Parka. Mesias announced his resignation from the AAA on Facebook on March 21, 2018, putting an end to his 12-year tenure with the firm. Banderas resigned on the following day, after being dissatisfied with his work. His loss against La Parka in his return match was "disrespectful," according to him, and he was granted the rights to promote the ring name "El Mesas" Ricky Banderas.

In the Wrestling Society X television series (taped in Los Angeles, California), Cosme appeared as Banderas, with the gimmick of a disgrunt and kayfabe disfigured man pursuing a feud with Vaino. After Banderas threw a fireball at Vaino's face, MTV pulled the episode from its original airdate, fearing that viewers would try it at home, the feud began.

In the following episode in a promo, Vampiro rigged a casket with explosives during a match, with the explosion resulting in the injury to his face. Banderas claimed the WSX Championship in his eighth episode (which was taped on November 15, 2006) of the series. He was involved in a string of brawls with Youth Suicide (Andre Verdun), as well as an allusion to a 6-Pac relationship. (Sean Waltman)

Cosme has signed a deal with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, as noted on the "TNA Mobile" service. Cosme was billed as James Mitchell's nephew and, in effect, Abyss' brother. Vignettes for this "monster-like" character began on July 1, 2007. Judas Mesias' name was eventually billed as Judas Mesias. He pulled Abyss under the ring by cutting a hole with a knife and pulling it underneath at No Surrender. Mesias made his official debut on the Six Sides of Steel's September 13, 2007, climbing from under the cage and later attacking Abyss. Mesias defeated Eric Young in his debut TNA match on September 20.

Cosme was suffering from sciatica and that the condition's treatment needed several weeks of rest, followed by physical therapy to recover. This injury occurred after a fall from a ladder during a championship match at AAA's Verano de Escandalo pay-per-view, which also knocked him out.

Mesias appeared on Impact, a television show from December 13, 2007. Where Abyss was strangling him with a piece of barbed wire, which he also used to cut his forehead open. With a chair, he struck Abyss repeatedly. He ended his assault by bringing Straight to Hell to Abyss in a row. Mesias won at Final Resolution after crashing Abyss with his finisher into a barbed wire steel chair in his TNA pay-per-view debut. The feud at Against All Odds, which was founded on February 10, 2008, remained fierce. He competed in a stipulation match named "Barbed Wire Massacre" where the ring was surrounded by barbed wire, and Abyss took the title by using his finisher, the Black Hole Slam. Cosme was released from his employment with the company in March.

Cosme returned to TNA on March 18, 2013 to watch the TNA World Cup of Wrestling One Night Only pay-per-view. He was representing Team International in a singles match, where he was defeated by Team United States' James Storm. Mesias, who was again supervised by James Mitchell in a Monster's Ball match, was defeated by Joseph Park at the tapings of the following day's Hardcore Justice 2 pay-per-view.

On November 26, 2009, Cosme and the World Wrestling Council had an agreement. In a compilation video shown during a special event titled Crossfire, the promotion made the formal announcement two days later, which featured highlights of his career. Ricky Banderas was originally scheduled for his debut in a competition against Carly Colón on January 16, 2010. Ray González was later confirmed after winning a three-way competition where the WWC's first champion of the "Wrestler of the Decade Cup" was going to be determined. Both were booked in a rematch the following week, with Banderas winning the cup. On July 11, 2010, Banderas had been confirmed to appear as special referee at Aniversario 2010, but was later admitted to a stipulation match against Colón. In this case, his character played a heel turn, shaming both Colón and Hugo Savinovich. For the first time, Banderas defeated Colón, with support from an interfering Shane Sewell, who became the first to win the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship. When returning to the IWA, Cosme was stripped of the award, leading an angle that revived the promotion's first decade. In the evening's main game, he defeated González, who had since returned to his masked "Rey Fénix" persona. Following this match, Cosme's participation in the IWA ended, but he remained in Puerto Rico until January 7, 2012, when he revived in WWC sports, aiming to beat Carly Colón for the Universal Heavyweight Championship. The challenge was accepted and held at Euphoria 2012, but it was inconclusive after Savio Vega was disengaged Colón, which drained what was left of the predetermined time.

Cosme first started working with Lucha Underground in September 2014 under a mask and the ring designation Mil Muertes. Pasqual Mendoza, the complete family of a seven-year-old boy, died in a earthquake in Mexico City, was his name in the storyline. He appeared on the episode, which aired on November 6, 2014, with Catrina as his valet. He was then embroiled in a huge rivalry with Fénix (punctuated by Catrina's turning against him and aligning herself with Fénix), which culminated in Fénix's victory in a "Grave Consequences" casket match that aired on March 18, 2015. After being "resurrected" by Catrina, Muertes returned to Ultima Lucha, Lucha Underground's season one finale, defeated Prince Puma to win the Lucha Underground Championship on April 19, 2015.

Despite spearing Catrina during the season two premiere on January 27, 2015, Muertes successfully defended the Lucha Underground Championship against Ivelisse. On August 5, 2015, Muertes was defeated by Fénix for the Lucha Underground Championship. Monster Muertes defeated Matanza Cueto for the Lucha Underground Championship in a no contest on Lucha Underground Meets. In a Graver Consequences Casket Match at Lucha Underground Graver Consequences Muertes was defeated by Matanza Cueto for the Lucha Underground Championship. In a Death Match at Ultima Lucha Dos Part 2, Muertes defeated King Cuerno. Muertes were lastly eliminated by Sexy Star in Aztec Warfare for the Lucha Underground Championship on November 16, 2016. The Mack was the champion of a Battle of the Bulls Tournament in Boyle Heights Muertes. Muertes was defeated by Prince Puma in a Street Fight on a subsequent Lucha Underground Taping. Later, Muertes was involved in the Cueto Cup, defeating Veneno, Paul London, and Jeremiah Crane, but Pentagon Dark defeated them in the semifinals. Captain Velasquez of Catrina tasked her daughter with obtaining the Gauntlet of the Gods of Cage. Muertes beat Cage and Jeremiah Crane at Ultima Lucha Tres Part IV in a Triple Threat Elimination Match to win the Gauntlet; however, King Cuerno robbed her Gauntlet at his behest.

Mesas, as a participant in the 2018 International Gran Prix, will be identified as Gilbert El Boricua. (CMLL) said on August 22, 2018.

Muertes made his Major League Wrestling debut in January 2021, accompanied by Salina de la Renta as his valet. This began a taleline that saw the introduction of several Lucha Underground characters as part of an organisation called Azteca Underground, led by a shady company named "El Jefe." This tale came to an end in May 2021 as she was “sacrificed” by the newly arriving Dario Cueto as a way to explain her removal from MLW. By defeating Brian Pillman Junior, he would win his first match. After the former refused to sell IWA-PR to Azteca Underground on Filthy Island, Muertes defeated Savio Vega in an Aztec Jungle Match. With victories over Parrow and Gringo Loco, the first defeat since beating Alexander Hammerstone for the MLW National Openweight Championship.

As "El Jefe" was revealed to be Luis Fernandez-Gil (now known as César Durán), and De la Renta's tenure as a professional ended, she continued to work for Azteca Underground in its quest to "build a new temple." As part of a general repackaging of the Lucha Underground intellectual property, his character's first name was changed from "Mil" to "King." Muertes defeated Richard Holliday in a “Caribbeans Rules” match to win the IWA Caribbean Heavyweight Championship (which had largely covered in MLW since 2019) as part of Battle Riot III. In a casket match, he defeated former MLW World Heavyweight Champion Tom Lawlor in his first defense of this title. Catrina's debut was also included in the promotion, resuming her duties as valet at the event.
