Ral Ruid Misitich (Spanish pronunciation: [ruj mistit ]], Croatian: Misiti [born 25 July 1990) is a Peruvian professional footballer who plays for Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders FC and the Peru national team as a striker.

He is of maternal Croatian descent, and his name, "The Flea," comes from his small frame and his ability to beat defenders with high ball control. Ruidaz began his career at Universitario de Deportes, a powerhouse of a Peruvian football team, where he became an idol during the 2011 season, despite being just 21 years old. He joined Primera División de Chile in January 2012.

Club career

Ruidaz grew up in the Lima neighborhood of Villa Mara del Triunfo and made his first steps in club football at the age of eight at Primera División club Universitario de Deportes. The player was immediately loaned to América Cochahuayco, the club's filial team, led by coach Héctor Chumpitaz, a legendary football player of the Peruvian national team in the 1982 World Cup, and he was promoted to the first adult team in January 2008. Hijos de Acosvinchos was his first professional goal. Jorge Gonzáles' arrival, he began to play as a striker.

Ruidaz made his professional debut in the Peruvian First Division against Total Chalaco in the Monumental on October 4, 2009. Juan Reynoso, the coach at the time, decided to play him from the start of the game, which ended 2–1 in favour of Universitario. He finished the season by scoring 3 goals in 7 games in the Peruvian 2009 Championship, as well as winning his first National title with Universitario de Deportes. Ruidaz has often been called peque (little Messi) in his home country, mainly because of his ability to coach a player one on one as well as his exceptional technical skills. In 2010, Ruidiaz was ranked as one of the top talents of South American football by O Globo Brazilian newspaper.

Ruidaz was appointed as the new player of the Primera División club Universidad de Chile on January 20, 2012. Despite some early success with his new club, Raul's lack of match fitness, and the emergence of young talented strikers at the club Ruidaz, Ruidaz's Ruidaz lost out of favour with the Universidad de Chile manager near the end of the season. Ruidaz and the Universidad de Chile's club had mutually agreed to free him on July 15, 2012.

Ruidaz, a soccer player from the Copa América Centenary, has signed for Monarcas Morelia in a season-long loan contract for a reported fee of €105,000. On July 1, 2016, he was unveiled in Morelia to the media and was given the number 9 shirt. Ruidaz made his Liga MX debut on July 15, 2016, defeating Diego Valdés in a 2–0 away loss to Tijuana. Ruidaz scored his first goal in a 2–2 draw against Querétaro the following week. Ruidaz won 4–2 away victory over Santos Laguna on August 1, 2016 with a hat-trick. Ruidaz led to 11 goals on the season, making him the season's top scorer along with Tijuana's Dayro Moreno.

Ruidaz was honoured with a commemorative plaque at Estadio Morelos for being the club's first Liga MX scoring champion before Morelia's Clausura 2017 home opener against Tijuana. In Morelia's 2–0 opening match victory over Tijuana, Ruidaz later scored his second goal. Morelia also agreed to a three-year contract later that night. In a 4–0 victory over UNAM, Ruidaz scored his second hat-trick for Morelia later this year. Ruidaz scored a crucial game-winning goal in a 2–1 away victory over Monterey in the season's final game of the season. Morelia's goal saved the team from relegation, helped the squad qualify for the liguilla, and helped Ruida win their second straight Liga MX scoring title.

Ruidaz would be signed with MLS side Seattle Sounders FC on June 6, 2018. The deal was confirmed on June 29 when Ruidiaz was announced as a Designated Player by the club. In 14 games, he set a new record for being the fastest to ten goals in MLS play (in 14 games) and scoring in the most recent games (8 games).

In a 3–1 home victory over Toronto FC in the MLS Cup Final on November 10, Ruidaz scored Seattle's last goal in a 3–1 home win over Toronto FC.

He scored two goals in a 3–0 win over UNAM in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Final, in which his club claimed their first title in the competition by winning 5–2 on aggregate.

International career

Ruidaz made his international debut in 2011 in a 0–0 draw against Japan in Niigata, the Kirin Cup's first international tournament. Ruidaz was called up by coach Sergio Markarián to represent Peru in the Copa América tournament in Argentina, Ruidaz made just one appearance in the tournament against Chile, in which Peru lost 11-0.

In 2016, Ruidaz was selected as a member of Peru's 23-man squad for the Copa América Centenario. Ruidaz scored a controversial goal in Peru's third group match against Brazil on June 12th by leading the ball into the net with his arm. Following a lengthy discussion between the referee and his assistant, the goal was allowed to stand, but Brazil went on to lose 1–0, resulting in their expulsion from the tournament. Peru was crowned champions of Group B after qualifying, which earned them to the knockout stage.

He was selected in Peru's provisional 24 man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia in May 2018.
