He moved to Manchester United for £13.8 million in September 2014, where he was part of the squad that won four championships, including the FA Cup, EFL Cup, and UEFA Europa League. Blind won his fifth Economy title and first-ever KNVB Cup in his first season back at the club in the summer of 2018.

Blind has earned over 90 caps and played for the Dutch squad that finished third at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, as well as at UEFA Euro 2020.

Daley Blind Career

Club career

Blind began his career in Ajax, Mexico's hometown club; the same club where his father Danny made his name as a professional. Blind is a product of the Ajax youth system, and although he was still a B-junior, he became a mainstay in the A-juniors during the 2007–08 season. Before being promoted to the Ajax first team for the 2008–09 season, he had been promoted to the Ajax first team. He was a midfielder on his way up the Ajax youth ranks, often playing the 'No'. 6' or 'third center-back' position. He kept promising as a youth and was appointed captain of Jong Ajax in 2007. He signed his first professional contract at the age of 17, tying him to the club until July 2010.

In the away match against FC Volendam on December 7, 2008, Blind made his debut in the Ajax first-team. Blind caused a corner kick through a Volendam defender, from which Jan Vertonghen scored the winning goal for Ajax. On December 19, 2008, he signed a labour deal extending his stay with Ajax until June 30, 2013.

He joined Groningen on loan for the remainder of the 2009–10 season beginning on January 5, 2010, during the winter transfer window. Blind in Groningen was mainly used as a right-back. He had been almost sold by Ajax on a permanent basis, but the transaction did not materialize.

Blind participated in two EJU national championships with Ajax in 2010-11 and 2011, the first of which will be Ajax's 30th championship title. Blind's results, on the other hand, were unconviable, and he was even booed off the field during an Eivisie game. Blind will get more confidence and playing time under new boss Frank de Boer's leadership, earning him the first choice left-back with a permanent starting position in 2012.

Marc Overmars revealed on April 23rd that Ajax and Blind had reached an agreement to keep his contract for three years, committing him to the team until the summer of 2016. Blind played in Ajax's third national championship in a row on May 5th, playing against Willem II 5–0 at home and securing the top spot on the table just one match day after the season's conclusion. Blind had been named AFC Ajax Player of the Year for the 2012-2013 season, having started from a great fifth year for Ajax, from the starting left-back position.

De Boer went Blind in the 2013-2014 season and was named Dutch Footballer of the Year as Ajax captured their fourth straight league title.

Manchester United reached an agreement to go blind on August 30, 2014, subject to a medical and personal contract. The transfer was completed on September 1, 2014, costing £13.8 million.

United beat Queens Park Rangers 4–0 at Old Trafford on their first victory of the season, blind made his debut 13 days after his signing and played for the entire 90 minutes. United's first goal for the club came on October 20th, a 20-yard attack that resulted in a 2–2 draw at West Bromwich Albion.

Blind sustained a knee ligament injury in the Netherlands' UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier against Latvia on November 16th, keeping him out of the Manchester United team's squad for the remainder of 2014. Blind returned to the United team on January 11, 2015, starting in defense in a 1–0 loss to Southampton at Old Trafford. United's 1–1 draw against West Ham was tense until he scored a long-agoal equalizer on February 8th.

Although Blind was used as a defensive midfielder or left-back during the previous season, he played as a center-back, where he spent the majority of the season. In a 3–1 victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford on September 12, he scored his first goal of the season, while also being named man of the match for his effort.

He started the 2016-2017 Premier League season as the team's first choice center-back alongside Chris Smalling, but he lost his place in the team after returning to form with Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo. He returned to the first team but was mostly left-back, replacing first choice left-back Luke Shaw. On Boxing Day, he scored his first goal of the season against Sunderland, charging into the box to connect with a pass from Zlatan Ibrahimovi and ending in the bottom corner. He began the Europa League final against his former team Ajax, which Manchester United defeated 2–0.

Both Manchester United and Ajax reported on July 17th that they had agreed to a blind transfer for Blind to Ajax for a four-year contract and a €16 million levy with conditional add-ons. Blind defeated De Graafsch at home on December 16, 2018, scoring as a centre-back.

Blind in August 2020 suffered during a pre-season friendly and was due to medical tests before returning to training.

International career

For the 2007 European Championships, Blind was called up to the Netherlands under-17 squad. He scored a brace against Iceland in the second match but suffered from an ankle injury in the match that ended his participation in the remainder of the tournament. He was called up to the under-21 team for a string of 2011 European Championship qualifiers, but did not leave the bench. He made his first appearance in the campaign on October 13th, as a replacement for Ajax teammate Siem de Jong in a 4–0 victory away from Poland.

Blind made his Netherlands senior team debut against Italy on February 6, 2013, in the starting left-back position against Italy in a friendly match at the Amsterdam Arena, despite previous calls. Blind played the full 90 minutes as the game came to a 1–1 draw.

He was chosen in the Netherlands squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in June 2014. For the Oranje's opening match against Spain, he was a starter at left wing-back, assassinating goals for Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben. In a 3–0 victory over Brazil in the third round play-off, he scored his first goal for the Netherlands.

Luton star Tom Lockyer shows where defibrillator is fitted in his chest and explains how the device could save his life after suffering cardiac arrest in December that left him technically dead for two minutes 40 seconds

Following his on-pitch injury after suffering a mid-game cardiac arrest earlier this season, Tom Lockyer has revealed where the Implanted Cardiac Device (ICD) has been fitted in his chest. The Hatters' game against Bournemouth in December was brought to a halt by the defender's collapse on the pitch for the second time in a matter of months. Lockyer returned to football in his first season in the Premier League after suffering from atrial fibrillation at Wembley in the Championship play-off final in May.

Girona, Man City's sister club, is making huge strides and currently sits firmly in La Liga thanks to Guardiola. Pere Pere is Pep's brother

JACK GAUGHAN IN GIRONA: Before City Football Group became involved in 2017, the bosses of Girona took a deep dive into the make-up of their membership. They were nobody's second team to reach La Liga after never making it to La Liga. Half of those who registered, the primary support, also identified themselves as Barcelona supporters. Going to Girona was a passion, but Barca the passion was just a bit different in Spain. Girona is a pleasant day out. The river Onyar is a beautiful place, with its multi-colored hanging houses. The cathedral's immediate area was used to film some of Game of Thrones. The foodie is a Michelin creation. A paella bocadillo is worth trying.

Barcelona's humiliating loss ended Xavi's as the Catalan giants were blown away by Girona's tiki-taka football, and fans are beginning to wonder why Michel isn't in their dugout instead

PETE JENSON (SPAIN): When Xavi took over Barcelona two years ago, the club's supporters imagined the kind of whirlwind pass and move football that he had longed for as a fan. They didn't see it in his first season, but they did win by ten 1-0, proving that patience was on display. They are now fourth having shipped four against the team with the eighth-smallest wage bill in the division and much worse than that - their victors were playing exactly the same style of football as before.
