Jordan Henderson Life

Jordan Henderson (born 17 June 1990) is an English professional footballer who captains Premier League club Liverpool and competes for the England national team as a midfielder. Henderson began his playing career at Sunderland in 2008, with a loan stint at Coventry City in 2009, before moving to Liverpool in 2011, where he lifted the Football League Cup in his debut season.

Following Steven Gerrard's retirement, Liverpool captain John Coveney's departure, the club won in the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final and the 2019 UEFA Super Cup. Henderson was capped and captained the under-21 team in 2010 for his first cap for England.

He has represented the country at Euro 2012 and 2016, as well as the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups.

Personal life

Henderson attended Farringdon Community Sports College before joining Sunderland as a youngster. He is a Sunderland fan and watched the 2014 League Cup Final with the Sunderland fans as a player at Liverpool. It was announced on the same day as being named Liverpool captain that he would be collaborating with Lionel Messi on the back cover of FIFA 16.

Henderson and his partner Rebecca Burnett have three children. Brian, a former policeman and amateur footballer who suffered from oral cancer during Henderson's early Liverpool career, was able to reach the 2019 Champions League final in Madrid.

Henderson responded on Twitter in December 2020 to a fan who said that the club had helped with his sexual orientation throughout his teenage years and early adulthood. Henderson said that if by wearing rainbow laces as Premier League captains helped at least one person, it was progress. "Everyone is welcome at Liverpool Football Club," Rob Johnson said, sparking applause from supporters and LGBT groups. Henderson's reaction was described as "an incredibly critical moment for all Reds supporters," according to Kop Outs, the official LGBT supporters group.

Henderson, the captain of Liverpool, called on fellow Premier League captains to establish a COVID-19 fund that would raise millions of pounds for the NHS during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. His suggestion was for Premier League footballers to contribute to a fund for frontline NHS staff.

Henderson was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2021 Birthday Honours for "services to Football and Charity, especially during the Covid-19 Pandemic."

Jordan Henderson: The Autobiography, his autobiography, was published in October 2022.

Jordan Henderson Career

Club career

Henderson was born in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, and at the age of eight, he joined his hometown club Sunderland's youth team, the Sunderland Youth Club. On July 1, 2008, he signed a professional deal with the club. In a 5–0 home loss to Chelsea on Monday, he made his league debut on November 1, 2008 as a half-time substitute. In the League Cup, he made his Sunderland debut and home debut against Blackburn Rovers the following month.

Henderson joined Coventry City in January 2009 on a one-month loan agreement. In a 2–1 loss to Derby County, he made his Coventry debut. Henderson's loan to Coventry was extended until the end of the season, and he scored his first senior goal of his career against Norwich City on February 28, 2009. He returned to Sunderland in April 2009 after suffering from a fractured metatarsal bone in his foot.

Henderson was born in the 2009–2010 season and made 38 appearances, scoring 2 goals. In the League Cup third round, he scored his first senior goal for the club against Birmingham City. He then scored his first Premier League goal against Manchester City on December 19, 2009.

Henderson spent the majority of the season on the right side of midfield, but he was playing centrally in the absence of Lee Cattermole; his versatility and tenacity earned him a new five-year deal with the club until 2015. He also earned the Sunderland Young Player of the Year award for the 2009–2010 season.

Henderson made a major contribution to the team during the 2010–11 season, appearing in 39 appearances and scoring three goals, including his first league double, on April 23 at home to Wigan Athletic. Henderson was ranked on the official FIFA website as one of the 13 young players to watch in 2011. For the second season in a row, he was named Sunderland's Young Player of the Year.

Henderson was transferred to Liverpool on June 9, 2011, for an undisclosed sum thought to be between £16 and £20 million. He made his debut in Liverpool's first match of the 2011–12 Premier League, winning by 1–1 draw against his old club Sunderland, where he was treated with a mixed reception by Sunderland fans. Henderson scored his first goal for Liverpool in a Premier League match against Bolton Wanderers on August 27. Henderson started on the right of midfield in Liverpool's 2012 League Cup Final victory over Cardiff City before being recalled in the 58th minute. He played the full 90 minutes as Liverpool lost 2–1 by Chelsea in the 2012 FA Cup Final on Friday. Henderson had 2 goals from 48 appearances in the 2011–12 season.

Henderson was told by Fulham's new manager Brendan Rodgers in August 2012, but the player turned down this offer. He scored his first European goal for Liverpool on December 6, 2012, as the Reds qualified for the first 32 goals against Udinese in the UEFA Europa League.

Henderson was a regular member of the Liverpool team in 2013-14, playing in 40 matches and scoring 5 goals. When Liverpool defeated 1–3 at Sunderland on September 29, he made his 100th appearance for the club.

Liverpool beat Samir Nasri 3–2 on Sunday for his first red card in his career; without Henderson, Liverpool defeated Chelsea 2-0, ending in a three-match suspension; without him, the club will have lost three of Liverpool's last four games; without Henderson, Liverpool lost 0–2 in a home match against Chelsea and drew 3–3 with Crystal Palace, losing a 3–0 lead in just 15 minutes. Liverpool had already been promoted to first place by Manchester City after losing 3 points in each of those games, putting the club in first place by the time of Henderson's return from suspension. He began with Liverpool's 2–1 home victory over Newcastle United on Saturday, the final match day of the tournament, but Manchester City claimed the league title in their concurrent match on May 11, 2014.

Henderson started the 2014–15 season in a good mood, contributing two assists in Liverpool's first three league games, and was named as the club's vice captain after Daniel Agger's departure. Henderson took the captaincie against Stoke City on November 29, 1991, when Steven Gerrard was an unused substitute. Henderson scored his third goal in a 3–1 victory over Leicester City on December 2nd, marking his 150th appearance for the club. Since Gerrard was out injured or being rested on the bench, Henderson started several Liverpool matches as captain. Henderson signed a five-year deal extension at Liverpool on April 23. The week before, he earned £100,000 per week.

Henderson was appointed captain of Liverpool following Gerrard's retirement in June 2015. Henderson underwent surgery after aggravating a heel injury, but before returning to the starting lineup, he fractured a bone in his right foot. Henderson's heel pains were attributed to an incurable condition known as plantar fasciitis. Because Rodgers was fired after he was fired, he missed the arrival of boss Jürgen Klopp.

He returned to first-team football against Swansea City on November 29, 2015. In a 2–2 home draw with West Bromwich Albion on December 13, he scored on his first appearance since his injury in a 2–2 home draw. During Liverpool's Europa League first leg match against Borussia Dortmund, a knee injury sustained him and barred him from playing until the end of the season. Henderson had 26 appearances and 2 goals in the 2015-16 season.

Henderson began the 2016-17 season with regular appearances in the starting eleven, and a dramatic 25-yard victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on September 16th. For the month of September, the strike earns him the Premier League Goal of the Month award. Henderson made 27 appearances on the season, scoring 1 goal.

Henderson scored his first goal of the season on September 23, 2017, a winner over Leicester City in a 3–2 victory. Henderson captained Liverpool for the first time in the Champions League against Hoffenheim's German side Hoffenheim on August 15, 2017. After Liverpool were defeated 3–1 by Real Madrid in Kyiv, he would proceed to captain Liverpool all the way to the final, ending up on the losing team. Henderson finished the 2017–18 season with 41 appearances in all sports, with one goal scoring.

After leading the team to its first UEFA Champions League final in more than a decade, Henderson signed a new five-year contract at Liverpool in 2018. Henderson emphasized that he intends to stay at Liverpool as long as possible and, in the case of a lengthy career, ideally for the remainder of his career. Henderson was called off after receiving his second yellow card in a 3–0 victory over Watford, meaning he will miss the Merseyside derby on December 24.

Henderson was battling back from a first half knee injury to captain Liverpool to qualifying for their second UEFA Champions League final in as many seasons on May 7, 2019 with a 4–0 victory. Liverpool began the match with a 0–3 deficit to overcome and key players out, and the return is considered to be one of the best in the competition's history.

Henderson captained Liverpool in a 2–0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final in Madrid, becoming the fifth Liverpool captain to lift the Champions League trophy, the club's sixth overall, on June 1st. Liverpool won the 2019 UEFA Super Cup after beating Chelsea on penalties.

Liverpool defeated Flamengo 1–0 at extra time in the final in Doha on December 21, making them the only English club to win the treble of continental trophies. John Aldridge, a former Liverpool player, expressed his displeasure with Henderson's status as a Liverpool great after this third trophy in a year.

Liverpool finished second in second place one point behind champions Manchester City in the 2018-2019 season, despite the fact that they finished in second place one point behind champions Manchester City. Liverpool's good form continued into the following season, and after a break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Henderson guided Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years on June 25th. Henderson has been named as the FWA Footballer of the Year for 2020 as a finalist for the PFA Player of the Year, despite being largely praised for his heroic and spirited performances during the league's winning season. Henderson joined the list of top 40 all-time Liverpool appearance makers at the end of the season, having appeared in 40 games during the 2019-2020 season.

Henderson scored his first Champions League goal in seven years on Sunday in a 3–2 home win over AC Milan. On October 24, he led Liverpool to a 5–0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, with his defense splitting pass bringing Mohamed Salah through to score Liverpool's fifth. Henderson made his 300th Premier League appearance for Liverpool against West Ham United on November 8th.

After winning the 2021–22 FA Cup, Henderson became the first Liverpool captain to win 6 different trophies on May 14-2022.

International career

Henderson made his debut for the under-19s against the Czech Republic in 2009 before joining Stuart Pearce's under-21 squad. In the European U21 Championship play-offs against Romania, he scored his first goal in an England shirt, as he drove England to lead.

Henderson was selected in the England U21 squad for the 2011 European Championships. However, England was eliminated from the group stage. In a 6–0 victory over Azerbaijan U21 on September 1, 2011, he captained the England U21 team, who scored just one goal in the Euro 2013 qualifier. In a 2–1 win over Norway, he scored his fourth under-21 goal, extending England's unbeaten record in Euro 2013 qualification. In the inaugural year of the award, Henderson was named England U21 Player of the Year. At the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championships, he captained the Under-21 team.

Henderson was dropped from England's U21 squad for their friendly with Germany on November 11, but he was given his first call up to the senior England squad against France on Saturday. He made his debut in the game, starting in central midfield alongside Steven Gerrard.

Henderson was originally named as a standby player, and he was called up to the England Euro 2012 squad to replace the injured Frank Lampard. He appeared as a substitute in England's first match of the tournament against France in the 78th minute and then appeared as a substitute in England's quarter-final penalty shoot-out loss to Italy.

Henderson was selected in Roy Hodgson's 23-man squad to travel to Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He got off to a promising start in England's first two World Cup group matches, including 2–1 losses to Italy in Manaus and Uruguay in So Paulo.

Henderson was also selected in Roy Hodgson's England Euro 2016 squad. In the final group match against Slovakia, which ended 0–0 as England finished second in their group, he only played one game and not the full 90 minutes.

Jordan Henderson is spotted back training at Liverpool and why Richard Masters could be set for another awkward trip to the Etihad - SPORTS AGENDA

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 21, 2024
MIKE KEEGAN: A familiar face was being put through his paces at Liverpool 's training ground recently as a former captain returned for some intense individual fitness training at the club's headquarters. Meanwhile, it should be no surprise that Manchester United 's incoming chief executive Omar Berrada, currently on gardening leave, is investing in a new shed. Berrada, who will cross the divide from rivals City this summer, has applied for planning permission to get rid of a Wendy House at his five-bedroom Cheshire pad as part of a garage upgrade and replace it with a new, upmarket shed.

Jurgen Klopp has a VERY awkward press conference showdown with Dutch reporter, who he quizzed over Jordan Henderson's 'horrible' interview, as Liverpool boss stands up for his ex-captain

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 10, 2024
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was involved in an awkward press conference exchange with a Dutch journalist he wrongly suspected of conducting a brutal interrogation of Jordan Henderson. The former Liverpool captain, now at Ajax in the Netherlands, was put on the spot in a tense TV interview after a 2-2 home draw with Fortuna Sittard on March 10. That came a few days prior to a 4-0 pasting by Aston Villa in the Europa Conference League, one of many lows in a disastrous season for the Amsterdam club, who sit 33 points shy of Eredivisie leaders PSV.

They currently finish sixth in the league, suffered early in their domestic cup, and failed in European competitions.
