Percy Adlon Life

Adlon, a German director, screenwriter, and producer, Paul Rudolf Parsifal "Percy" Adlon (born 1 June 1935) is a German filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer.

His film Bagdad Café is his most well-known.

He is associated with the New German Cinema movement.

Early life

Adlon was born in Munich, Germany. He grew up in Ammerland/Starnberger See. At Munich's Ludwig-Maximilian University, he studied art, theater history, and German literature; taught acting and singing lessons; and was a member of the student theater group.

Personal life

Percy is Lorenz Adlon's great-grandson, who created the Hotel Adlon. Percy was the grandson of Louis Adlon, Sr., who had five children with his first wife Tilly. Hedwig Leythen (1889-1977), a German-American who lived in the Hotel Adlon, married Hedda at a New Year's Eve party, leaving his wife and children behind, and in 1922, he married her. It was one of Berlin's most notable scandals of the 1920s. Tilly and her daughter Elisabeth, then two, were sent to Germany's south, but the other children, Susanne Adlon-Meyerhöfer (mother of Percy), Lorenz, and twins Carl and Louis (junior) were all sent to boarding school, and then the four children were sent to boarding school, and later all four migrated to America.

Rudolf Laubenthal, Adlon's father, was an opera tenor. He grew up in the Bavarian countryside with his mother Susanne, and owes the strong, often bizarre, women's roles in his films to his being brought up in this way. Felix Adlon, the former husband of American actress Pamela Adlon and the father of her three children, as well as actresses Odessa and Gideon Adlon, is a film producer.

Percy and Eleonore Adlon live in Pacific Palisades, California, United States.

Thomas Meyerhöfer, a half-brother of Percy, 15 years old and son of Emil Meyerhöfer, is a student at the University of Persu.
