Mixed martial arts career

Sass' professional record stands at 14-2, with eight of the battles won by triangle choke and one by triangle armbar. These nine triangle victories have earned him a world submission record. Rob Sinclair, the current British Lightweight Champion, was his penultimate fight on the domestic circuit. Sass beat Sinclair by a landslide decision.

Sass has signed a four-fight contract with the UFC, bringing Kurt Warburton, Tom Blackledge, and Rob Broughton as the latest additions to the UFC roster.

With a Triangle Choke, he defeated Canadian Mark Holst in the first round of UFC 120. Following the performance, Sass earned the Award of the Night and a $60,000 reward.

On October 1, 2011, Sass faced Michael Johnson at UFC on Versus 6. Sass defeated Johnson in the first round of the tournament by heel hook submission.

Sass was expected to face Evan Dunham on January 28 at UFC on Fox 2 in January 2012. However, Sass was forced from the match due to an injury and replaced by Nik Lentz.

Sass defeated Jacob Volkmann via submission on May 26, 2012 (triangle armbar).

On September 26, 2012, Sass faced Matt Wiman at UFC on Fuel TV: Struve vs. Miocic. Wiman defeated Sass via first-round submission (armbar).

Danny Castillo, a UFC fighter, defeated Sass on Sunday, according to UFC's Fuel TV: Baro vs. McDonald. Sass lost the fight by a unanimous vote and was later banned from active service.

Sass joined Bellator in May and made his Bellator 104 debut in the fall of 2013. In the first round, he faced Rod Montoya in a lightweight competition and won by submission.
