The Thelin Effect: How an unheralded Swede has transformed Aberdeen's fortunes and got Pittodrie fans dreaming of glory once again

In the searing heat of the Algarve back in July, Jimmy Thelin drilled his Aberdeen players both physically and mentally in an intense pre-season training camp. Double sessions became the norm. There were to be no passengers. Nobody missed a session, despite the exhausting 30-degree temperatures. Every player was asked to buy in to Thelin's methods. In the evenings, once training had finished and they had eaten dinner, players were discouraged from locking themselves away in the solitude of their hotel rooms.
Aberdeen are a club reborn after hitting the Swede spot with manager Jimmy Thelin

There are no shortage of eye-catching statistics which serve to illustrate the seismic impact Jimmy Thelin has had on Aberdeen since taking charge this summer.
The ten consecutive victories the Swede has presided over in all competitions is now the second-longest winning run in the club's 121-year history.
Defeat League Two Spartans in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final this weekend and the Dons will move within four games of equalling the record set in 1970-71, with the run of eight straight league wins at the outset of 2015-16 also now coming under threat.
Connection with fanbase is key for Thelin as Aberdeen make it a perfect ten since he took over

Jimmy Thelin last night thanked the Red Army for getting his players over the line to secure his 10th straight win as Aberdeen boss - and told them their backing will be crucial in the bid to build a truly special season.
Two goals from Pape Gueye had the Dons on cruise control against Motherwell in front of a 17,551 crowd at Pittodrie, but a late effort from visiting substitute Moses Ebiye put the cat among the pigeons and it took a great save from Dimitar Mitov in time added-on to secure a narrow win.
Thelin had the punters singing about going on to win the league at time-up, having seen their team stay joint-top with Celtic, and has made it clear their backing will have a vital role to play as he continues building the club he wants in the Granite City.
