Lamine Sane Career

Football career

Sané was born in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, southwestern France, and began his football career with local club US Lormont on the outskirts of Bordeaux. He later joined Stade Bordelais before deciding to join Championnat de France amateur club RCO Agde at the age of 19. Sané played in 25 games in a season for Agde, scoring just one goal. Following the season, he returned to Lormont and spent a season in the Division d'Honneur. Sané jumped five divisions over the summer of 2008 after signing a three-year professional deal with Bordeaux, France.

Sané played for the club's reserve team before his arrival in 15 games during the 2008–09 season. The young player enthralled manager Laurent Blanc and assistant Jean-Louis Gasset while playing for the amateurs. Sané continued to play well and thrived in a 3–1 victory over Athletic Bilbao after being a second-half replacement after being a second-half replacement. Sané was called up to the first team for the first time in Bordeaux's league match against Boulogne on September 19, 2009. He didn't appear in the match, but eventually became a regular in the first 18 and was often seen on the bench as a back-up for French international Alou Diarra. Sané made his professional debut in the club's 2–0 victory over German club Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on November 3, 2018 as a replacement in the 84th minute. In Bordeaux's 1–0 win over Israeli club Maccabi Haifa, he got his first match in the following month. In Bordeaux's crucial tie with Lyon, Sané made his league debut four days later. Bordeaux won the match 1–0, with Sané playing the full 90 minutes.

Sané signed a contract extension with Bordeaux on January 8, 2010, extending his stay in the club until 2014. In a Coupe de la Ligue final at the Stade de France, he scored his first goal for Bordeaux in a 3–1 loss to Olympique de Marseille.

Sané left Bordeaux after seven years as a coach and joined Werder Bremen for an undisclosed fee. Sané would not be a member of the squad "for the time being" because he had been absent from training on two days without having a valid excuse. Sané will also be allowed to discuss his personal sporting career.

Sané completed his move to Orlando City, SC, on February 20, 2018. In a 3–1 home victory over Real Salt Lake on 17 March 17, he made his debut as a halftime replacement in his hometown victory against New York City on 17 March and his first goal for the club against Real Salt Lake. Sané forged a strong central partnership with Robin Jansson in 2019 and was a regular starter as Orlando turned the game round defensively, conceding a team-record low number of goals. Despite this, Sané's contract option for the 2020 season had been withheld by Orlando as part of the end-of-season roster picks on November 21, 2019.

Sané joined FC Utrecht until the end of the season on February 8, 2020. He made his 89th minute substitute against Willem II on February 16th, taking the lead 1–0. Willem II scored a stoppage time equalizer, but the game was 1–1. In the next three league games as well as a 2–0 KNVB Cup semi-final victory over Ajax, Sané was an unused substitute. He was let go at the end of his deal after making just one appearance.
