Nicholas Heyward (born 20 May 1961) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist best known for his work with the early 1980s band Haircut 100 and for his solo career.

Early life

Heyward, a born in Beckenham, spent his early years in and around south London. He studied art and photography at Kelsey Park School for Boys. At 16, he left school to work as a commercial artist.

Graham Jones and Les Nemes, the three members of Haircut One Hundred, formed bands together in 1977. They were first known as Rugby, then the Boat Party, Captain Pennyworth, and Moving England before settling on Haircut One Hundred. In 1981, the band signed to Arista Records and had four UK top ten hits between 1981 and 1982. Pelican West (1982), the band's debut album, debuted at No. 1 in 1984, was published by Heyward. 2. The British Phonographic Industry had it marked platinum.

The band's second album was released in October 1982, but a statement was released announcing that Heyward had left the band in January 1983, and percussionist Marc Fox took over on vocals. Heyward told Smash Hits magazine that he had been considering going solo for a while and had already recorded some songs with session musicians at the time of the release. However, many years later, Heyward claimed that he had been suffering from stress and depression at the time, despite being fired by other members of the band in effect.

The band has reformed many times over the years. Despite not being together as of 2017, Heyward described a "deep passion" for the band and said, "the door is always open." In a talk with Lorraine, he said he was "ever hopeful" that the band would present a reunion show at the Roundhouse, where Pelican West was recorded.

Heyward's solo career began in March 1983 with the single "Whistle Down the Wind," which debuted at No. 81. On the UK Singles Chart, there are 13 people. "Take That Situation" was one of two more top 20 hits followed by "No." "Blue Hat for a Blue Day" and "No. 111" - No. 14 people were killed in the attack on Wednesday. North of a Miracle, his debut solo album, was released in October 1983 and peaked at No. 58. In the United Kingdom, there are ten of them. "Love All Day" and "Warning Sign" were among the top-five hits on the charts, although "Laura" followed them unsuccessfully.

Home, Heyward's second solo album, was released in 1986 and featured the singles "Over the Weekend" and "Goodbye Yesterday." By 1988, he had moved to Warner Bros. Records and released his third album, "I Love You Avenue," which featured the single "You're My World."

Heyward's 1993 album On Epic Records, he went from Monday to Sunday, and it was one of the 1990s' first hits. "Kite," the first single, debuted at No. 1 in the United States. On the UK Singles Chart and No. 44, there are 44 on the chart and No. 91. 4 on Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart.

Heyward's second Epic Records album, Tangled, appeared on his second album, "Rollerblade," which also included the UK top 40 single "Rollerblade."

Creation Records introduced The Apple Bed, Heyward's most recent big label debut in 1998. "Today," "The Man You Used to Be" and "Stars in Her Eyes" were three singles from the show.

Heyward has released two independent albums: Open Sesame Seed (2001), a British actor-singer Greg Ellis's collaboration that featured Ellis reading Heyward's poetry to the accompaniment of Heyward's musical support; and The Mermaid and the Lighthouse Keeper (2006), an album of songs recorded by singer/actress India Dupre.

Heyward revealed on his website in November 2013 that he and his son, Oliver, were recording a new album. In October 2015, the album's first glimpse was published on the website. On April 4, 2017, the album's name, Woodland Echoes, was revealed, and PledgeMusic's campaign to help the album was revealed.

Solo career
