Early life
Namrata Shirodkar was born in a Maharashtrian family of Goan origins on January 22nd, 1972. She is the elder sister of actress Shilpa Shirodkar and the grand daughter of noted Marathi actress Meenakshi Shirodkar, who appeared in Brahmachari (1938).
Shirodkar spent time as a model and was crowned Miss India in 1993. She represented India in the Miss Universe pageant and came in sixth place. She appeared in the Miss Asia Pacific competition last year and was named first runner-up.
In the 1977 film Shirdi Ke Sai Baba, she appeared briefly as a child artist with Shatrughan Sinha.
