Monice Career

Career

Ivkic appeared in the German version of Popstars, a casting show broadcast by the German TV station ProSieben. After being disqualified because she did not meet the minimum age, she was encouraged to resubmit her application for the following season, but she was unable to make it to the finals.

She appeared on the fifth season of Starmania, a casting show broadcast by Austrian TV station ORF. When she registered for the fifth season of Deutschland sot den Superstar (DSDS), which is broadcast by RTL), she soared and finished in fourth place.

Ivkic appeared on the German version of the US talent show American Idol in the fifth season of Deutschland sot den Superstar (DSDS). She made it to the quarterfinals but was voted out of the show by telephone vote and ended in fourth place.

Ivkic returned to perform live, both alone and with other contestants in the show's finale, pitting Fady Maalouf against eventual winner Thomas Godoj. Dieter Bohlen, Fly Alone, has also included her on the album. She appears on "Fly Alone" and also on "All for One" with the other ten candidates. She appears on three tracks in duets with other finalists. The album debuted in the top ten albums of Germany.

Following a Deutsche Irmkic homicide, Ivkic did not sign a contract with a record company, citing a desire to express herself musically without being bound by cultural constraints. Rather, she recorded a few songs and posted them on her official YouTube channel. She came out with the album I'm Gonna Make It Later in 2008, which is only available online. Some of the songs were seen on Bosnian and Austrian televisions, but no of them gained a following. Both "I'm Gonna Make It" and "Only the Good Die Young" were remixed.

I'm Gonna Make It was not the hoped-for success that had been awaited. Because of poor demand, Ivkic first took a break and was then only attending small events. She began changing her appearance at the end of 2008, attempting to make a change from ballad singer to pop star, dyeing her hair black and losing some weight.

Ivkic will compete in the Irish national finals for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, where she later finished in third place. The album was released a few weeks later and peaked at number 86 in the Irish charts just over a week. With "Fashion Queen" she wanted to take off in Germany and Austria, as well as internationally.

The song was mentioned on various chat forums and radio stations as it was said to have sounded very similar to Christina Aguilera's song "Candyman". It is also Ivkic's most popular single. The accompanying music video was also in rotation.

Ivkic published a book entitled Lasst euch vom Bohlen nicht verkohlen in February 2009 (undeign, die es die verkic) (roughly: Don't let Bohlen Carbonize You: Tips and Tricks for Superstars (and Anybody Wanting to Become One))). She reveals how one behaves in casting shows and tricks, as well as tips for those who want to apply there. Ivkic also discusses her own interpretations of the role. The book, which was published in German only, was generally well-received, especially in Austria.
