Matthew Albert Costa (born June 16, 1982) is an American singer-songwriter from Huntington Beach, California, United States.

He has 13 independent albums: 7 self-recorded EPs, six complete LPs, 4 of which are released by Brushfire Records.

Santa Rosa Fangs, his first album in five years, was released on Dangerbird Records on May 18, 2018.

Life

Matt Costa, a Portuguese immigrant, claims that his father works in airline management. Matt's handmade demo attracted No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont, who said he'd record more demos for Costa in his home studio in early 2003. Costa and Dumont's first EPs (Matt Costa EP, Elasmosaurus EP) were released by the pair. These were later combined and mixed by Phil Ek to produce Costa's first full-length CD, Songs We Sing.

Costa was on Jack Johnson's summer tour during the summer 2005 show. He has worked with Modest Mouse, Oasis, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, G. Love & Special Sauce, and Death Cab for Cutie since being on tour. Costa joined Jack Johnson for his 2006 European tour. He has also appeared on the Jack Johnson and Friends Curious George album; his album is titled "Lullaby." This song was taken from his The Elasmosaurus EP. Costa has also toured extensively in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Asia, and South America.

On February 2, 2006, Costa's first single "Cold December" was released. "If You Took To Me" was released by the artist on July 31, 2007, as part of the Arctic Tale and its soundtrack.

Matt released his first single, "Mr. Pitiful," from his album Unfamiliar Faces on October 7, 2007. During a scene with Paul Rudd in the film I Love You, Man, starring Michael Cera and the film Marmaduke, the song "Mr. Pitiful" was used. During The Answer Man's opening credits, the song is included. For the worldwide iPhone 3GS ads, Apple used an artistic slice of this song.

Costa married on December 23, 2008.

Matt's third album, Mobile Chateau, was released on September 21, 2010, by Brushfire Records. As Costa's first solo venture, the record was shot at Pheasant Studios in Santa Ana, California.

He released Sacred Hills EP on 2012, the first EP of the Sacred Hills EP.

In 2013, his fourth album, which he chose to self-reign, was released. It featured songs from his earlier released EP, "Life You" and "Good Times."

A Deluxe and commentary version of the album followed shortly after the initial release of the Self-Titled album.

In 2014, his song "Good Times" was included at the end of an episode of HBO's Girls' third season.

Costa released a number of self-produced EPs in 2015. Eucalyptus EP, the first of the storm, was the first of the storm, due to the acoustic design. Cat Mosta EP came in mid-year. The EP titled Neon Brain EP came to an end of the year. Thousands Memories Ago, a Christmas album by the year's end, was released as a Christmas album.

Anchor and The Albatross EP were two EPs released by Costa in 2016. Later, he released an album titled Orange Sunshine. The film The Brotherhood of Eternal Love revolved around the Eternal Love of Eternal Love. The album was released in a psychedelic rock style. Matt released a small number of songs live on a trip to London at the end of 2016.

The single Where Have All My Heroes Gone was released in 2017.

Santa Rosa Fangs, Costa's first album in five years, was released on May 18, 2018 under his new record label Dangerbird Records. Later, Matt introduced Santa Rosa Fangs (Novella Edition), in which he discusses the album's meaning and compares his personal life to the fictional one he had created in the collection. In the set, Lovely Saturday and Evening Star were included.
