Mandy Grace Capristo (born 21 March 1990), also known mononymously as Mandy, is a German singer, songwriter, dancer, and model. Born in Mannheim and raised in Bürstadt, Capristo was first exposed to singing and dancing competitions in 2001, when she won Kiddy Contest, a reality television singing competition for teens in Austria, with her song "Ich wünsche mir einen Bankomat".

In the mid to late 2000s, Capristo rose to fame as a founding member of the girl band Monrose, the result of the fifth season of the German television talent show Popstars.

Until their disbandment in 2011, the trio released four studio albums and 11 singles.Following the breakup of Monrose, Capristo launched her solo career as a singer.

In 2011, she collaborated with singer Peter Maffay on his Tabaluga musical track "Die Zeit hält nur in Träumen an".

In between recording her first solo album Grace (2012), Capristo participated in the fifth season of Let's Dance.

Her first solo single, "The Way I Like It", was released in April 2012.

Personal life

Capristo started dating German footballer Mesut Özil in 2013. The relationship ended in October 2014, following reports of Özil being involved with another woman. On 12 November 2015, Özil and Capristo appeared together at the Bambi awards ceremony in Berlin.

Mandy Grace Capristo was born in Mannheim, the daughter of an Italian father, Vittorio Capristo, and Carmen, a German mother. She grew up in Bürstadt. Anthony, her older brother, was born in 1986. When she was in her early teens, her parents divorced. Capristo was four when she first started gymnastics, dancing, and piano lessons. She began training three years ago and was hooked on dancing. Capristo's music instructor entered her for the Kiddy Competition in Austria in 2001. She won the competition with her song "Ich wünsche mir einen Bankomat," which followed on to the number one compilation album Kiddy Contest, Vol.. 7 (2001) Capristo appeared on television shows such as Tabaluga Tivi or 1, 2 or 3, and she performed the song "Mosquito" on another Kiddy Contest album in 2002.

Capristo made the ProSieben network in 2006 to film German television show Popstars. Capristo was chosen final member of the Monrose girls band trio Monrose alongside Senna Gammour and Bahar Kzl at the finale by the audience via televoting. Shame, the group's debut single, debuted at number one on the German singles chart and became one of the year's best-selling singles, with a worldwide audience of 200,000 copies. The group's debut album Temptation debuted on the charts in December 2006 and was rated two times platinum by the Media Control Charts in 2007. Since 2006, the girl group has released four studio albums, Temptation, Strictly Physical, I Am, and Ladylike, which reached the top ten charts. Their singles "Shame" and "Hot Summer" have ranked at number one on the charts, with "Shame" and "Hot Summer" on top. Overall, they released eleven singles, seven of whom made it to the top ten in the German Charts. They received their first Comet Award for Best Single with "Hot Summer" in 2008 and in 2009 for Best Band.

Capristo appeared on the German front of FHM magazine in June 2010 and posed in the same calendar.

Monrose announced on November 25 that the group would disband, and that each group will concentrate on their solo projects. On the last official television appearance at Monrose on February 27, 2011 with their single "Like a Lady" as their last official TV appearance at the Final of Austria's Next Topmodels.

Capristo said in an interview that she had already started recording for her first album in November 2010, shortly after Monrose's disbanding. She appeared on two tracks from her debut album in May 2011. "Be You" is one of the Be-Yu Cosmetics' B-Side of her first single. Overrated, the other song on the album, will also appear on the album. They recorded the song "Die Zeit hält nur in Träume an" (German) and performed on October 8th, presumably as a result of Peter Maffay's collaboration. In October 2012, the singer and Peter Maffay went on Tabaluga-Tour with Peter Maffay. In the German charts, Peter's single debuted at number 86.

Mandy released her first solo single "The Way I Like It" (written and produced by David Jost) in March 2012. Grace was going to be her first album. The album was released on April 27th under her current record label EMI and Starwatch Entertainment. Robin Grubert and Martin Tingvall wrote "Closer" as her second single.
