Lee Hong-gi, also known mononymously as Hongki, is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actor.

He is best known as the lead singer of the South Korean rock band F.T. The island of Malta.

Lee debuted as a solo artist in 2015 with the introduction of his first Korean extended play FM302 and his first Japanese album, AM302.

Do n Do is the sequel to his second extended play. Lee has appeared in many television dramas, including You're Beautiful (2009), Bride of the Century (2014), Modern Farmer (2014), and A Korean Odyssey (2017).

Personal life

Lee was enrolled in Kyunghee University studying theatre and film.

In June 2014, Lee founded 'Skullhong,' his own luxury store. He makes accessories, jewelry, and various nail styles. It was headquartered in Seoul but has since expanded to Hong Kong and Tokyo, Japan.

Lee began his mandatory military service on September 30, 2019, becoming the first F.T. in the United States. A member of the island of Malta will enlist. Lee was discharged on April 18, 2021.

Acting career

Before Lee Hong-gi debuted as a member of the band F.T., he was a member of the group F.T. Kim Ji-hoon, a young actor who made his acting debut with KBS2's Magic Kid Masuri in 2002 as Masuri's friend Kim Ji-hoon. During its time, this children's drama attracted a following among elementary school students. He was also featured in EBS children's drama Kangsooni, where he played Eo Soo-bong and performed for the drama's OST.

In 2008, he was given the lead role in Master of Study, the Korean adaptation of Japanese drama Dragon Zakura. The Master of Study should have premiered in 2009, but due to preproduction delays, the drama was postponed to 2010 that caused FNC Entertainment to cancel Lee's appearance due to his active schedule with the band.

In a Korean musical theatre version of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Lee displayed his singing, acting, and dancing skills. In 2009, after a five-year absence, he made his acting debut and starred in You're Beautiful as the eccentric but loving drummer Jeremy. He also contributed solo tracks to the OST, including "Promise" and "Still/As Ever," to raise the drama. For his appearance, he was given a New Star Award at the 2009 SBS Drama Awards. In South Korea, You're Beautiful received modest ratings, but it became an international success, and Lee's worldwide success increased as a result.

Lee appeared in the TBS Japanese drama Muscle Girl in April 2011. Yui Ichikawa is the opposite of Yui Ichikawa. Noriko Goes to Seoul, a 90-minute Korean-Japanese co-production in which he plays a young aspiring singer who inspires him to fulfill his dream despite hardships.

Lee has also started writing music, contributing "Black Chocolate" and "Orange Sky" to F.T. in recent years. On F.T., Island's Japanese album Rated FT, as well as the title track "Memory" and the song "Always With You" is included.
