ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS: Which country is the farthest from a coastline?

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 2, 2024
Kyrgyzstan is compensated by the fact that it has a stunning landscape. There are forests of walnut and fir, deserts, meadows, mountains and lots of water, in the form of alpine lakes. Lake Issyk-Kul is the largest lake in Kyrgyzstan and the second-largest mountain lake in the world, after Lake Titicaca in South America. It is known as the 'Pearl' of Kyrgyzstan and a stunning alpine landscape surrounds it. Intrepid travellers to the region can enjoy watersports, hiking, horse riding and visiting the old Soviet bath houses and sanatoriums. Its crystal clear water is slightly saline, so it doesn't freeze in winter and can reach a balmy 24 degrees in summer. The most distant point from an ocean, known as the Eurasian Pole of Inaccessibility, is in China. It is in the Gurbantunggut Desert, in the Xinjiang region near the border with Kazakhstan, 1,645 miles from the nearest coastline.

Beard it like Beckham! Since being branded 'Miss,' a 40-year-old trans man's facial hair transplant to make him look like a Man Utd legend

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 9, 2023
EXCLUSIVE: Lee Brown, 40, invested in a brutal 12-hour surgery to insert hair follicles in his face, allowing him to grow out his stubble to look exactly like the Manchester United legend. Mr Brown, who had been taking testosterone for 18 months, decided against the follicle transplant because the drug didn't improve his natural facial hair growth and he got tired of being seen as a woman. And surgeons even took him 'beard hunting,' giving him a catalog of celebrity whiskers to rifle through so he could get his desired look.

In a 'barbaric and deliberate' attack, a pigeon is shot and killed, sparking fears that more animals will be shot

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 31, 2023
On Willow Road in Enfield, a pigeon was forced to sleep after being impaled by a crossbow bolt. After a householder discovered the animal on the North London road, the RSPCA was dispatched to the scene on Monday, August 28. The assault on the small creature was described as a "barbaric and deliberate act of cruelty," by Chris McGreal, an RSPCA inspector. Since the animal was still alive, he said the vicious assault likely caused the animal a lot of pain. The lethal crossbow bolt that punctured the creature's body was 16 centimeters long, the average length of a feral pigeon is 33 centimeters.
