Laurence Carl "Larry" Rickard (born 14 June 1975) is an English actor, writer, and comedian best known for his role in the TV series Horrible Histories, Yonderland, and Ghosts.

He is also one half of George Sawyer's comedy writing/performance pair "Larry and George."

Personal life

He and his partner Mary Philips and his son now live in Sussex. Rickard announced on Twitter that he had contracted COVID-19 in October 2021.

Career

Rickard has appeared on several UK comedy shows, including The Armstrong and Miller Show, The Charlotte Church Show, and The Impressions Show with Culshaw and Stephenson, as well as children's program Me and My Monsters.

He is perhaps best known for his role as a key cast member, lyricist, and writer for the award-winning CBBC programme Horrible Histories, in particular for creating and presenting the character of 'Special Correspondent' Bob Hale (a parody of presenter Peter Snow). He has appeared on numerous spin-off game shows, including Gory Games and in the Horrible Histories BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.

Rickard, as well as the five other cast members of the Horrible Histories, is the co-creator, writer, and actor of Yonderland, a family/comedy series that premiered on SkyOne on November 10, 2013. In 2015, a second series was released, but a new one has since been ordered and began filming in early 2016. In addition, he is the co-writer of Bill, a BBC-produced comedy film that is based loosely on William Shakespeare's early life and features the same starring cast members. In 2014, filming took place in Barcelona, and the film was released in the United Kingdom in September 2015.

He has also appeared in the Channel Four Comedy Lab 'Private Lives' as a performer, as well as the TV series Balls of Steel.

On Tracey Ullman's Show and Tracey Breaks the News, he is also a writer and performer. Although he has appeared on several films, Philip May, the husband of former British Prime Minister Theresa May, is his most popular role.

He co-created, writes, and appeared in the 2019 BBC sitcom Ghosts.
