James Howick (born 14 May 1979) is a British actor and writer best known for his appearances in the TV series Horrible Histories, Yonderland, Sex Education, and Ghosts.

Howick was born in Chichester, West Sussex, on May 14th 1979. He attended The Regis School. In 2000, he graduated with First Class Honours from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

Career

Howick, along with five others in the Horrible Histories film cast, including Ben Willbond, Martha Howe-Douglas, Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, and Laurence Rickard, is also the co-creator, -writer, and -star of Yonderland, an eight-part family fantasy comedy series that premiered on SkyOne on November 10, 2013. In Bill, a BBC-produced comedy film based loosely on William Shakespeare's early life, he co-starred with the same troupe. Gerard in Peep Show, Gerry in Danny Boyle's Babylon and Anthony in Reggie Perrin's revival are among the most well-known television roles. In addition, he has appeared in numerous sketch comedies, including The Armstrong and Miller Show and The Kevin Bishop Exhibition. Aaron Mayford appeared in the ITV thriller Broadchurch in 2017. Howick has appeared in Netflix's original series Sex Education as Mr Hendricks, a science teacher at Moordale Secondary School who also conducts the Swing Band. Howick is the co-creator, co-writer, and co-star of the BBC One sitcom Ghosts, but he is best known for his role as Patrick Butcher, a 1980s Scout Master who was killed in an archery crash. Howick appeared in the 2022 BBC comedy film "Here We Go," in which he plays Paul Jessop.

Howick played Capt. Matlin in the Hellboy's Guillermo del Toro version.
