Kang Hyung-gu (born January 27, 1998), better known as Kino, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, rapper, composer and dancer.

He is best known as the member of the boy group Pentagon, which debuted in 2016 under Cube Entertainment and project group M.O.L.A. He releases solo music over soundcloud under the name Knnovation.

Personal life

Kino was born in Seongnam, South Korea, on January 27, 1998. He has a younger sister. He lived in the Philippines for 3 months when he was a kid. He can speak Korean, Japanese, and English. He graduated from Hanlim School of Performing Arts in 2017 and got admitted into Sejong University as a practical dance major through non-scheduled admission. He is named as the dance master in the group. He's friends with Park Ji-min of 15&, Woodz of UNIQ, Vernon of Seventeen, Nathan, and Hoho. Together they form a project group called M.O.L.A (Make Our Lives Awesome). Kino was a former Power Vocal and JYP Entertainment trainee before joining his current agency, Cube Entertainment. He also regularly uploads demos for other self produced tracks on his SoundCloud, "Knnovation".

Career

He was a member of the Urban Boyz dance team before his K-pop debut. He appeared in G.NA's "Secret" music video and marketing campaigns. He appeared in Rain's "Rain Effect" as well.

He appeared in the reality show Pentagon Maker in 2016.

Cube Entertainment announced Kino's debut with Pentagon with the release of "Young." He was instrumental in the choreography for their debut song, "Gorilla." In the drama Hello, My Twenties! Asgard's Asgard 2nd and his bandmates.

In 2017, he helped choreographed the Pentagon songs "Like This" for Demo_01 and "Runaway" for Demo_02, with the former co-leader Jay Black appearing alongside Jay Black. In addition, he produced "Violet" in Demo_02, which also includes a Korean and Japanese music video and later became the title track on their second Japanese mini album, Violet.

Kino released a video of himself doing the "In My Feelings Challenge" on July 14, 2018. The clip became a hit in South Korea and the challenge was accepted by the nation's first celebrity to face the challenge. On July 17, he was joined by B1A4 and Yoo Seung-Woo as the MC for Bus King, a programme in which musicians surprise bus passengers by performing a sequence of songs. M.O.L.A., a music group made up of Kino, Park Ji-min of 15&, Woodz of UNIQ, Vernon of Seventeen, and Nathan, has released an unofficial song "Chillin" on SoundCloud. He appeared on Park Ji-min's "PUTP" (Pick Up The Phone) in September, alongside M.O.L.A. members Woodz and Nathan. The album was released on Jimin's second mini album jiminxjamie. "Crossroad" was Jung Dong-ha's first full album of the same name later that month. Kino performed on labels "That Season You Were In" and "Bad" by KRIZ featuring Woodz in November. He produced Jisu's debut single "Dear Dawn" in late December.

He co-wrote the lyrics for M.FECT's "Designer" in January 2019. On Wooseok x Kuanlin's debut extended play 9801. He was instrumental in writing and composing "Always Beautiful." The song was inspired by the episode "San Junipero" from season three of British anthology series Black Mirror's season three. "Lost Paradise," "Spring Snow," and "Round 1" were among the three songs recorded by Pentagon in the same month. Kino was involved in all scheduled performances with the exception of one that occurred in January due to an ankle injury. Pentagon continued to advertise with "Spring Snow," and he was able to participate in the advertisements for a week. On April 30, he co-wrote, co-produced, and was featured on KRIZ's "1 Sided Love." On September 1, he appeared on "Hard to Love" on KRIZ's "Hard to Love" album.

Kino's KiSingBooth, a radio host on Casper Radio's radio station, premiered in 2020 (Korean:'sing). The Black Hall, Pentagon's first studio album Universe: The Black Hall co-composed "Die for You" with Nathan on February 12, 2012. Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad inspired him in writing the song. He co-produced "Shine Bright" by Lee Soo-young in June 2020, the fourth OST for the comedy-drama Kkondae Intern. On September 16, Kino released the Pentagon song "Twenty-Twenty," which was the first OST for the web drama Twenty-Twenty. A month later, he and bandmate Hongseok made a cameo in the drama a month later. Pentagon's tenth mini album We:th, on which he produced two songs: "Beautiful Goodbye" and "Paradise." Kino said he drew the online album art cover as a gift to Pentagon's leader Hui. This is Kino's "first drawing." He also created the teaser image and the inside pages of the album. Kino appeared on "Poison ( )" as the first artist on Unordinary Sunday's project album in November. Even as he is still in love, the jazz song explores one's conflicted thoughts of leaving behind a volatile individual.

Kino's Jinjin and Astro's Jinjin co-hosted Unboxing in March 2021. He appeared on Unordinary Sunday's second project album with Yumin, including the song "Sunflower," which was released on May 21. Kino was featured on David's album "Don't play me love" on June 19, the 19th child from the family's house of Commons. "Atlantis" by A.C.E's EP Siren:Dawn, written and co-produced A.C.E's album "Atlantis" was released on June 23. He was officially announced as the MC for the FashionN original program titled Follow Me - True to your heart, a beauty service that showcases many ways to be fashionable, beauty, and life.

Kino's special single "Pose" debuted on August 9, 2022.
