Kim Hyo-jong (born June 1, 1994), better known as Dawn and formerly E'Dawn, is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, and model under P Nation.

Dawn is best known as a former rapper and songwriter of the South Korean boy band, Pentagon, for three years, releasing nine EPs in both Korean and Japanese before releasing nine EPs in both Korean and Japanese before he was released from Cube Entertainment in 2018.

Dawn, alongside (then) bandmate Hui, and labelmate Hyuna, for the introduction of 2 EPs on November 5, 2019.

Career

Dawn debuted on July 10, 2016, under the banner of E'Dawn, with the company Pentagon under Cube Entertainment as a dancer and rapper. The group was formed as a result of a variety show dubbed Pentagon Maker. Despite E'Dawn's being kicked out of the program, he was added to the team's final lineup, alongside Yan An and Shinwon. E'Dawn performed on the company's debut EP, Pentagon, as a writer, as well as contributing music to the latter. He'll continue to write songs and music for the group (including "Runaway" and "Shine") until his departure.

On April 4, 2017, it was announced that E'Dawn would debut in a new group named Triple H alongside bandmate Hui and labelmate Hyuna, and that the trio will be seen in a new show called Triple H Fun Agency. The EP 199X made its debut on May 1, 2017. E'Dawn performed as songwriter once more, including the lead single "365 Fresh." The album debuted at number one on the Gaon Album Chart and at number ten on the Billboard World Albums Chart, with #10 at the top. In 2018, Retro Futurism, the group's sequel to the previous EP, was released. Along the other three tracks on the album, E'Dawn contributed to the lyrics and music for the lead single "Retro Future."

After E'Dawn revealed his friendship with Hyuna in August 2018, Cube Entertainment revealed that he would be out of Pentagon's forthcoming EP, Thumbs Up!, though he will still be recognized as songwriter for "Naughty Boy" and "Skateboard." Cube sacked E'Dawn and Hyuna's contracts on September 13, citing a lack of confidence with them. On November 14, 2018, E'Dawn's departure from Cube and Pentagon was officially announced.

E'Dawn had signed a deal with his new company, P Nation, alongside Hyuna, who revealed it on Instagram on January 23, respectively. With the new single "Money" on November 5, it was announced that E'Dawn will redebute as a soloist under the name "Dawn."

He appeared on "Original Television Soundtrack") on April 29, 2020, he was part of the "OLD X NEW (Original Television Soundtrack) album for the (Late Night E-News) show, with the song "It's You).

Dawndididawn, the first EP that was released on October 9, 2020, was confirmed in September 2020. Jessi, a fellow P Nation artist, appeared on the title track "Dawndididawn ()" on Pledge.

On March 3, he was featured in Demian's latest album "Love%" on Demian.

Dawn and Hyuna joined forces on September 9 to announce their duet EP 1+1=1.

Dawn would be attending the J-Rim Super Nova Festival with Hyuna on June 7, 2022, 2022.

Psy, the director of P NATION's P.S., revealed a teaser photo announcing Dawn's return in 2022 with the digital single "Stupid Cool."

Both he and Hyuna will leave the company after deciding not to renew their contracts, according to P Nation on August 29, 2022.
