Yuvin was very interested in singing with his parents and sister, who made him interested as well. As he first started middle school, he would go to karaoke rooms a lot and started singing ballads. Despite originally not intending him to be a singer, his parents gave him the permission to attend a vocal academy. He attended the academy for three months as a hobby before being invited multiple times to audition for Superstar K6.

On the first episode of Superstar K6, the singer sang "Farewell Taxi" by Kim Yeon-woo. Judges praised him for his visuals and vocals. He soared to the top of the charts, scoring in the top four before being cut off during the 12th episode of the show. Since Superstar K6 was over, including The Music Works, whose manager came directly to him, the band had meetings with several music companies. In February 2015, he signed with them.

In March 2015, the song was included on Baek Ji-young's single "Garosugil at Dawn." The album debuted on various music charts, peaking at the top of the charts. He debuted his first OST with Kim Na-young for the drama The Girl Who Sees Smells in May of the same year. Song performed an OST for the drama Goodbye Mr. Black in April 2016 and made his solo debut with "It's You To The Bone" a month later. It was revealed in the same month that Song would make his idol debut as a member of the boy group Myteen in 2017.

Song performed in the eighth season of The Friends, alongside Sam Kim and Eric Nam. The show aired in summer 2016 for four episodes. He made his acting debut with a cameo appearance in the third episode of the drama Age of Youth in July 2016. Song appeared on Myteen's pre-debut reality show Myteen Go. The show ran for 7 episodes until late February. On February 18, he unveiled an OST for the drama Good Manager. Myteen released their first EP, "Myteen Go!" on July 26 on their first EP. During Seoul Fashion Week in October 2017, Song walked as model.
