Kevin Aviance Career

Career

Aviance was born in Richmond, Virginia, in a close-knit family of eight siblings. Their father worked as a landscape contractor, which was his responsibility. Aviance started dedicating himself to the study of music and drama in the seventh grade. "Punk, Boy George, Devo, and Grace Jones were among his early influences." He moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked as a hairdresser and did drag shows. He had a bad crack habit, but with the support of the House of Aviance, he was able to avoid it. Since being enrolled in the house, Kevin Aviance took the name Kevin Aviance. He then moved to New York City and made a name for himself as a dancer/performer at Sound Factory, a group mostly for queer Latinos and blacks. He was one of a handful of drag performers in NYC who were able to solely rely on appearances, as seen by major DJs and club promoters. His career as a showman and club personality began in Washington, D.C., and then moved to Miami, where he eventually landed him in New York City. Mother Juan Aviance established the House of Aviance in 1989 (in Washington, DC) for the first time. Kevin is regarded as Mother Juan and the House's "oldest daughter." Aviance, who was living in Florida at the time, was asked by Mother Juan to move to New York City. He accepted his House Mother's request and shortly after, he landed a cameo role in Madonna's 1994 Secret video. Aviance appeared as part of Billboard's sixth annual Dance Music Summit in July 1999.

Aviance has appeared in numerous films, including Flawless starring Robert De Niro and Punks, an independent film. He has appeared on such shows as The Tyra Banks Show, America's Next Top Model, and Tyra Banks' Next Top Model, as well as Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston, in addition to his film appearances. His albums Din Da Da Da, Rhythm Is My Bitch, Alive, Give It Up, and Strut have all reached number one on the Billboard dance chart, with Rhythm Is My Bitch, Rhythm Is My Bitch, and Strut. Dance for Love is the only one of his singles not to debut at number one on his charts to date. Give It Up, Aviance's most popular dance radio to date, was released in 2004. Entity, his second album, is a more consistent effort than his first.

Beyoncé's 'Renaissance' Is The Sound Of Freedom And Adventure' Is This Year's Albums Of The Year'

www.mtv.com, December 5, 2022
This is the first of five essays from MTV News this week to honor our 2022 Albums of the Year. Beyoncé's 2022 was the first time there was even a single music video. The Houston native didn't have to lift a manicured finger to ensure the success of her seventh album Renaissance thanks to her dedicated BeyHive fan base, who hosted viral competitions and parties to celebrate Queen Bey's latest work. The evidence was in its uniqueness, with Beyoncé's letter allowing her to "be free and adventurous in a period when no one else was moving." The icon, who appeared on the album's cover, wary of dance music's Black origins. Beyoncé, a pop and R&B wunderkind, has made herself protean throughout her 25-year career and brought her revival of Renaissance to a new level.

Beyoncé’s Biggest Sonic Pivot Yet Finds Inspiration In The Past

www.mtv.com, August 4, 2022
Beyoncé's seventh studio album, Renaissance, debuted in June, causing hysteria in the Beyhive as the community clung to every sign hinting at the project's new sonic and artistic directions. Beyoncé veyed away from her signature surprise-LP style with a slim rollout for the long-awaited project that featured an internet-shocking British Vogue spread, puzzling box sets, and an open letter announcing the truth of the new release. Renaissance is Beyoncé's first solo album since the cultural and visual masterpiece Lemonade in 2016 and follows the 40-track compilation Homecoming: The Gift in 2019. Renaissance's arrival on July 29 marked a change of stagnation for three years, a period of quietness in which she "becomes to be the most original."
