Early life and education
Quincy Jones, the eldest child of composer/arranger Quincy Jones' marriage to actress Peggy Lipton Jones, was born in Los Angeles, California. She is Jewish on her mother's side and an African-American on her father's side. Harold Lipton, a corporate lawyer, and Rita Benson, an artist, were Lipton's parents.
Jones was born in Bel-Air with her younger sister Rashida, who is an actor and screenwriter. Jones lived with her father and her sister, who lived with their mother after she and her parents divorced when she was eleven years old. Jones left Los Angeles' Fashion Institute for Design and Merchandising at the age of 19 to work with designer Tommy Hilfiger.

Career
Kidada Jones began working as a celebrity stylist for her father's publication Vibe magazine. She gained a following when she styled pop star Michael Jackson for the cover of Vibe in 1995. Jones was hired by designer Tommy Hilfiger, who ran a huge ad campaign focusing on Jones and a group of her friends (including Aaliyah, Tamia, Kate Hudson, Nicole Richie, and Oliver Hudson). For eight years, she served as his muse. Jones' fashion ventures included three years of designing a clothing line for Snoop Dogg. Jones also appeared in Elle, Vogue, and Harper's Bazaar during this period.
Jones has been designing for Kidada for Disney Couture since 2005. Jones acts "as a conduit to hip tastemakers the brand might otherwise ignore," according to the W magazine. "Kidada is not just one of those people who points out what's cool," Jim Calhoun, Disney's executive vice president of consumer products, North America. "She has a hand in making it cool." She also works with Disney projects.
