Pickler made his name as a contestant on American Idol's fifth season and finished in sixth position.

Early life
Kellie Pickler was born in 1986, at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle, North Carolina, to Cynthia Morton and Clyde "Bo" Pickler, Jr. Kellie's mother left when she was two years old and then returned and took care of her for two years. Kellie was returned to her grandparents when she was 12 years old, but her parents raised her to adulthood because her father was absent in her life. Pickler says her grandfather, Clyde Raymond Pickler, Sr., a retired electrician, and grandmother, Faye Pickler, were the two key influences in her life. Pickler graduated from North Stanly High School in New London, North Carolina, in 2004. She was a cheerleader and beauty queen. At her high school graduation, LeAnn Rimes performed "On the Side of Angels."
She spent time as a carhop at a Sonic Drive-In franchise, and she made an appearance on Gimme the Mike on WSOC-TV in 2005. The Charlotte race is a classic. She came in second place in second place. Personal life
Pickler's parents split up the day after her second birthday, but her mother vanished a year later, in July 1989. During times when her father, Bo, was incarcerated, she would live with her grandparents outside Albemarle, 45 miles (72 kilometers) northeast of Charlotte. Pickler's mother returned to Albemarle in 1992, but she never came to know her. However, her mother was released in March 1995, despite Bo Pickler's incarceration for armed robbery. Pickler was in the fourth grade at the time. "She had custody of me for two years," Pickler said in a Charlotte Observer interview in February 2006. Pickler's grandparents said that her mother and her mother had migrated to Union County with her and treated her harshly. The court has restored custody of the grandparents. Pickler hasn't heard from her mother since her mother vanished again, and Pickler hasn't heard from her since. Her father, a heroin and opioid addict, served a three-month prison term in Florida State Prison for aggravated assault and battery arising from a 2003 stabbing attack. He was released on May 6, 2006, a week after she was barred from Idol. "One thing that's so important in life is that we learn to forgive others," NBC Pickler said in an interview with April 2006. Every day, I beggarly for my sins and for conduct that I've committed wrong. And who am I to excuse someone for something they've done? "God tells us to love everybody."

"One night I couldn't sleep, I was up, and just Googling random stuff, and I'm like, 'Hmmm, PETA." I watched all the videos and thought it was horrible. It's an animal cruelty. A lot of it has to do with finding out what happens to the animals, which bothered me and so I did not eat meat."
