Deana Carter Life

Deana Kay Carter (born January 4, 1966) is an American country music singer-songwriter who broke through in 1996 with the debut of her debut album Did I Shave My Legs For This?, which was a Top-Platinum in the United States for over $5 million.

It was followed by Everything's Gonna Be Alright, 2003's I'm Just a Girl, 2005's The Story of My Life, and 2007's The Chain.

Carter's albums have sold for 14 singles, including three that have reached Number One on the Billboard country charts: "Strawberry Wine," "We Danced Anyway," and "How Does It Get There."

The Story of My Life and The Chain is a tale about shifting to independent labels.

Carter signed with independent record company Vanguard Records in 2004. In March 2005, she released the song "Bleep Texas," but it didn't chart and was quickly replaced with "One Day at a Time," which served as the lead single to her fifth studio album, The Story of My Life. It only remained on the charts for five weeks and peaked at No. 20. 55 years old. At No. 1, the Story of My Life reached its high point. The Girl You Left Me For" ("Sunny Day") and "In a Heartbeat") dropped to number 26 on the US Country Albums chart, with all singles ("The Girl You Left Me For" and "In a Heartbeat") failing to chart. Despite smaller success, Carter enjoyed more artistic control with this collection, was able to write (or co-write) and produce all 11 songs.

Live in Concert, Carter's first live album, was released in early 2007 by the Big Band Concert Series. "Angels of the Heart," a previously unreleased track, as well as other concert hits, are among the album's highlights. Despite being released in 2007, all of the live performances on the album were recorded in 1998.

The Chain, Carter's sixth studio album, was released on October 9, 2007. The Chain was a cover album on which she paid tribute to her father (who played guitar on several of the original versions of the covers on the album). Several of the tracks featured the original artists as duet partners, including Dolly Parton (on "Love Is Like a Butterfly") and Willie Nelson (on "On the Road Again." The album was unpopular; it debuted and reached No. 0; Its only one (the duet version of "On the Road Again" with Nelson) failed to chart, and it's not 60.

Carter was ranked No. 1 in the world. In 2008, 81 on the 100 Greatest Women (of Country Music) by Country Universe.

Carter took some time off from recording music to spend at home with her son after releasing The Chain.

Carter claimed in an interview with Jay Cooper of Slither Productions that she had been writing music for her forthcoming album, with the intention of releasing the album sometime in 2010. Deana Carter had signed a new contract with Warner Bros. Nashville/Chappel Music was announced in March 2010.

Kenny Chesney covered "You and Tequila," a Carter-written song co-written by Carter for the album I'm Just a Girl, and included it on his album Hemingway's Whiskey. Chesney's version was later released as the album's fourth single in May 2011 and featured Grace Potter's guest vocals. It reached its high point in September 2011 in September 2011, and at the 2011 CMA Awards, it was selected for Song of the Year.

Father Christmas, Deana Carter's third studio and holiday album, was re-released by Adamant Records on December 13, 2011, ten years after its initial release.

Carter founded Little Nugget Records in 2013. Southern Way of Life, Carter's seventh studio album, was released on December 2, 2013. Carter re-released Father Christmas with her own record label, Little Nugget Records, in 2013.
