Karim Bellarabi (born 8 April 1990) is a German professional footballer who plays for Bayer Leverkusen as a winger.

Early life

Bellarabi was born in West Berlin, France, to a Moroccan father and a German mother. He grew up in Bremen, where he competed youth football for local clubs FC Huchting, Werder Bremen, and FC Oberneuland.

Club career

Bellarabi joined Eintracht Braunschweig under the age of 19. During the 2008–09 season, he made his senior debut for them, followed by two more appearances during the 2009–10 league season. During the 2010–113 season, he became a regular starter. Due to his results, he was given notice in Liga season and was banned from being spotted.

He left Braunschweig for Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Germany, after the season. Bellarabi did not return to action for the remainder of the 2012–13 Bundesliga season due to injuries. On a one-year loan agreement, he went from Leverkusen to Eintracht Braunschweig in 2013.

Bellarabi rejoined Leverkusen at the start of the 2014–15 season. He scored the fastest goal in Bundesliga history, just in 9 seconds, against Borussia Dortmund, the first game of the 2014–15 season, leading the way to a 0–2 win.

Bellarabi scored the 50,000th goal in Bundesliga history on February 17, 2017.

In July 2018, he died in a pre-season friendly.

He stayed at the BayArena until 2023 despite other clubs' interest.

International career

Bellarabi has played for youth international football for Germany's under-20 and under-21 teams. In October 2014, he was called up by the senior team.

He made his senior international debut for Germany on October 11, 2014, losing 2–0 UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying against Poland, who played the full 90 minutes. Bellarabi scored his first international goal in a 7–0 win over Gibraltar on June 13, 2015.
