Julia Barr Life

Julia Barr (born Julia Rose Buchheit in Fort Wayne, Indiana), an American actress, is a woman from the United States.

Barr is best known for her appearance on the soap opera All My Children, in which she plays Brooke English.

She appeared in everything from 1976 to 1981, from 1982 to 2006, and then from December 20, 2006, and then back to Brooke on January 5, 2010 for a three-month stint until April 23, 2010. Barr, who was only adolescent in Fort Wayne, made her acting debut in a Peter Pan production at the age of 13.

She decided to pursue acting as a profession right away, and by the time she graduated from college at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, she had appeared in 25 professional productions.

She appeared at the Studio Arena Theatre in Buffalo, New York, for two years.

Personal life

Barr's first marriage, to Richard Barr, resulted in divorce. In a musical comedy class, she met her second husband, Richard Hirschlag. In a Manhattan brownstone, Barr married Hirschlag on Valentine's Day 1982. Allison, the daughter of an actor, appears on Guiding Light for a brief period. The couple lives in Englewood, suburban New Jersey.

Julia Barr Career

Career

Barr debuted soap operas in Reenie Szabo, a short stint on Ryan's Hope. She was invited to join All My Children as Brooke English, replacing Elissa Leeds in the role. Brooke's portrayal earned her eight Daytime Emmy Award nominations (1980, 1981, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1998, and 2001), the first recipient of the 'Outstanding Support Actress' award in 1990 and again in 1998. Barr became close friends with actress Ruth Warrick, who portrayed her aunt Phoebe on the program until her death in 2005.

Barr took a 15-month break from the show, during which she toured with Katharine Hepburn and Dorothy Loudon in the national touring company of West Side Waltz. In 1982, she returned to the show for the second time.

Barr's airtime on AMC decreased in the early 2000s, owing to fan outrage, with her character Brooke only used to expand other characters story lines. Executives at ABC in late 2006 did not renew Barr's employment, but she was given a recurring job (without a promise of appearances). Barr declined. Fans of the show, as well as Barr, were ecstatic. Barr's contract officially ended in December 2006, and her last regular episode aired on December 20. The character was not given an exit and simply stopped appearing, fueling fan outrage.

Barr co-star Jill Larson of All My Children to produce and publish a web series titled The Vindicated, which follows three women who are at a point in their lives where they are without their male counterparts for various reasons. The project was written in 2007 and filmed in 2008. A final product is still in the works.

On January 4 and 5, 2010, Barr returned to AMC for the soap's 40th anniversary. Barr rejoined AMC in February 2010 for a brief period in conjunction with David Canary's (Adam Chandler)'s retirement.

In the last episodes of the show's ABC run, Barr's last return to All My Children as Brooke English appeared in September 2011. In February 2013, it was confirmed that she would appear on the show's online revival as Brooke. The show had been revived on April 29, 2013, with Barr playing Brooke English. All My Children came to an end in November 2013.
