Early life

Lisa Rinna was born in Newport Beach, California, to Lois Irene (née DeAndrade) and Frank Rinna. She is of Italian, Portuguese, and English descent. Laurenee, Lisa's older half sister, died while Lisa was seven years old. Her family moved to Medford, Oregon, when her father was transferred there for work-related reasons, and she spent the remainder of her childhood there. Rinna graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1981. Rinna left San Francisco, California, to pursue a career as a model after graduating. She began her work by appearing in commercials. "I believe I got my SAG card doing a Mervyn's commercial," she told the Los Angeles Times.

Rinna appeared in John Parr's single "Naughty Naughty" as the passenger in Parr's car at age 21. Rinna appeared in several episodes of The Hogan Family in 1990 as the mother of Jason Bateman's character. She first earned national recognition in 1992 when she played Billie Reed on NBC's Days of Our Lives. She left in 1995, but she has reprised her role in 2002, 2012, and 2018. Taylor McBride on Aaron Spelling's Melrose Place from 1996 to 1998 appeared on daytime, then to primetime. Rinna has appeared in two projects opposite husband Harry Hamlin, the teen crime drama Veronica Mars, and Lifetime's Sex, Lies & Obsession, which was based on a true tale about her husband Harry Hamlin's sexual use and alcoholism.
