Life and career

Elliot was born in New York City. Adrian Lucas Rojas Elliot, Isiah Mikail Elliot, and Annie Rose Elliot were married to Luis Rojas and have three children: Adrian Lucas Rojas Elliot, Isiah Mikail Elliot, and Annie Rose Elliot.

She appeared in a number of episodic prime time television shows, including The Mod Squad, Kojak, Barnaby Jones, and Police Woman. In 1977, she was a lead actress in the short-lived NBC series Rosetti and Ryan.

Elliot appeared in film adaptations including Change of Habit (1969); opposite Elvis Presley, Mary Tyler Moore, and Barbara McNair; and One Is a Lonely Number (1972). Elliot appeared in the films Some Kind of Wonderful and Baby Boom in 1987.

In 1965, Elliot made her daytime debut in the short-lived ABC soap A Flame in the Wind. Tracy Quartermaine of ABC's daytime soap opera General Hospital is her most well-known. Elliot debuted as Tracy in 1978 and became a fan favorite. Tracy's ruthlessness was portrayed in a scene where she holds her father's heart medications when he appears to be in danger of a heart attack. Elliot started in 1980 and received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for the role. Judy Trent appeared on prime time CBS series Knots Landing for the second year in the same year.

Elliot appeared on CBS soap opera Guiding Light from 1981 to 1982; Ross learns that Carrie Todd, a person associated with Ross Marler, is a murderer with a split personality; Elliot says "the most was asked of me when I was doing that job."

Cynthia Chandler Preston Cortlandt appeared on All My Children from 1984 to 1986. When sleeping with Ross Chandler, Cynthia seduced wealthy, older Palmer Cortlandt, breaking up Palmer and Daisy's marriage and marrying Palmer.

Gail Kobe, a 1986 producer, called Elliot to tell her she would play Stephanie Douglas Forrester in the recently developed CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. Elliot accepted the role but Kobe called Elliot on Christmas Eve 1986 to inform her that Susan Flannery was returning to daytime as Stephanie, but Bill Bill had substituted Flannery.

Elliot appeared on Days of Our Lives from 1987 to 1989; her character, Justin Kiriakis, is played by Wally Kurth, but she marries someone else despite being pregnant with Justin's child.

After two years on Days of Our Lives, Karen returned to General Hospital in 1989 and spent the 1990s with Kurth, who was portrayed as Tracy's son, Ned Ashton. Elliot returned to mid-1993, before becoming a producer on the 1995 ABC soap opera The City. After briefly appearing on General Hospital as Tracy Quartermaine on The City, she reprised her role as Tracy Quartermaine from 1996 to 1997. Elliot returned to GE as a regular cast member in 2003. She was nominated for another Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Support Actress in a Drama Series in 2014, 33 years after her triumph and 21 years since her last nomination. Elliot's resignation was announced in March 2017.

In November 2019, it was announced that she would return to GE in December 2019. Tracy has made several short-liveries since; the tone of her appearances have been described as holiday trips.
