Personal life

Kimmich has two children, a son who was born in 2019, and a daughter who was born in October 2020 with his girlfriend Lina Meyer. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he and his Bayern Munich colleague Leon Goretzka formed "We Kick Corona" online to assist charitable, socioeconomic, or medical organizations. Despite his early support for the campaign, Kimmich has remained unvaccinated against COVID. Because of his unvaccinated status, he was unable to attend crucial games for both the German national team and Bayern. Kimmich expressed disappointment with his hesitancy after testing positive for COVID in November 2021 and reportedly suffering with various side effects, including reduced lung capacity, and announced that he would get the vaccination.
