Wayne Lim Jun Jie (simplified Chinese: pinyin: L'n Jûnjié; born 27 March 1981) is a Singaporean singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor, better known as JJ Lin.

Lin began his musical career by releasing his debut album, Music Voyager (2003).

Lin has received three Golden Melody Awards, including one for Best New Artist and two for Best Mandarin Male Singer.

Early life

JJ Lin was born in Singapore to a Kim-mûi Hokkien family and studied at Jing Shan Primary School, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and Saint Andrew's Junior College before completing his National Service. Lin's family is made up of his brother, father, and mother who have a background in Chinese Classical Music, which has consequently influenced the artist's music. In addition, his brother was a major influence in his career choice.

Lin also performs in English, Hokkien (his native dialect), and Cantonese, as well as a romanized pronunciation system, and has performed in Cantonese. At the Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan, he was named the Best New Artist Award.

Lin signed with Ocean Butterflies International, which released the then 22-year-old Lin's debut album in 2003 after completing his national service. Lin signed a new deal with Warner Music Taiwan in 2011.

He is best known for his songwriting and singing abilities. When he was still a student under Ocean Butterflies' tutees, Billy Koh and Sunkist Ng, he wrote songs for various singers. He has written over a hundred songs for other artists in total. "Remember" () for Taiwanese singer A-Mei, A-Do's "Let Go" (), Harlem Yu's "What's Wrong With You?" he wrote. "When You" by Cyndi Wang (), Vivian Hsu's "Smiling Eyes" (), and Comic Boyz' "Heart of Superman" ().

He was selected to perform the remixed version of "Home," the National Day Parade's theme song in 2004 in Singapore. Lin has sold 1 million copies in less than a week and is extremely popular in Asia.

In July 2007, he set a Guinness record by signing 3,052 CDs in 2 hours and 30 minutes. He was not allowed to drink or eat during the signing. He was able to sign a CD in 2.7 seconds on average.

He appeared at the Television charity event The Giving of Love in May 2008, which was dedicated to assisting victims of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. Lin also contributed a significant amount of money to the rescue efforts and wrote a song titled "Love and Hope" (Chinese: XWW) honoring the victims's release.

Lin released Waiting for Love (Chinese: ; pinyin: Qdài i) in February 2008. It features tracks from many of his albums, ranging from his debut album to 2007's West Side. Sixology (Chinese: pinyin: Liù), his sixth album, was released in October, and it sold 280,000 copies in a week.

SMUDGE, his own fashion brand, was launched in Singapore during 2008 Christmas for the first time. The store's official launch was on March 13, 2009.

Lin received three awards at the 14th annual Composers and Authors Society of the United Kingdom (Compass) Awards Presentations, a ceremony that honours performers in the music industry. The Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, and Raffles City Convention Centre, Singapore, was host. He was named with the Top Local Artist of the Year award, which is given to Singaporean artists who had the year's highest royalty income. Lin received the Singapore Youth Award in the same year.

His singing career was put on hold in 2009 due to acid reflux and flu in his voice, as well as his tumultuous touring and recording schedules. JJ Lin wrote on Instagram on December 19, 2017 that the past two years "had not been straightforward" and that he had been "searching continuously for a specific direction" and that he had been "searching constantly for a'shelter for the soul, a 'SANCTUARY.' "He wrote songs and completed his Message in a Bottle album," which was released on December 29th, 2017. He and his team developed "a common vision" and created the space from ground zero while still "working on project "SANCTUARY" and "shared a common vision." In early 2018, he announced his "Sanctuary" concert tour in Shanghai. He released The Story of Us (Chinese: ), and actor Wu Jinyan appeared in the music video in 2019.

Lin performed a song "I'll Stay With You" in January 2020 to the Wuhan, China medical staff who were trying to save patients with COVID-19.
