Hazlina Abdul Halim (born on February 17, 1985) is a Singaporean television presenter, writer, news reader, and radio announcer.

Hazlina is of mixed parentage and is essentially bilingual in English and Bahasa Melayu.

She is also a Mandarin speaker.

She appears on live variety and current affairs shows as well as telethons.

Hazlina has also been sought after for private emceeing appearances, and she has attended several seminars/workshop as a guest speaker.

Early life

Hazlina was born in Singapore. She has always been a voracious reader and has received numerous book awards in primary and secondary school, as well as in debates and oratorical competitions. Hazlina went on to earn a Mass Communication diploma at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, where she co-presented and co-produced weekly radio shows for Radio Heatwave, the campus radio station, where she co-presented and co-produced weekly radio programs.

She spent some time in Singapore as a host and a television reporter before deciding to study Political Science and Communication Studies at The University of Western Australia in 2006. Curtin University of Technology in Perth awarded a Master of Film and Television with Distinction in 2010.

Career

During her last year at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Hazlina's media career began with an internship at Ria 89.7FM. She was destined to be a part-time announcer affectionately known as "Fairlady." Hazlina debuted on MediaCorp Suria in 2005, a short time after, on TGIF's weekly magazine program, covering current affairs, lifestyle, music, food, and community activities.

Hazlina, a television debutant, hosted Pesta Perpeta 2005, a live award show recognizing Singapore's Malay Television Industry alongside Najip Ali, Rima Melati Adams, and Khairudin Saharom.

Hazlina launched Berita, MediaCorp Suria's prime news bulletin, in October 2005. She joined the news team as a journalist in February 2006 before deciding to pursue her bachelor's degree. Despite being based in Perth, Western Australia, Hazlina would return to Singapore often during her holiday periods and was often seen reporting or presenting on Berita and various other programs on MediaCorp Suria.

Hazlina completed her studies at Temasek Polytechnic's School of Business, gaining the Diploma in Communications and Media Administration, as well as presenting the Malay news programme, Berita on Suria.

She joined CNA as Assignments Editor and oversaw the Singapore Desk's news coverage in 2015. On Fridays, she continued to represent Berita.

Hazlina made the switch to Public Affairs after a 15-year career in journalism.

Hazlina was elected President of Persatuan Pemudi Islam Singapura (PPIS), also known as the Singapore Muslim Women's Association on December 5, 2020. PPIS is a non-profit group that supports less fortunate Muslim women, children, and families through a series of community projects. Hazlina took over from Mdm Rahayu Mohamad, the PPIS' Immediate Past President, who took over Mdm Rahayu Mohamad.
