Stephanie Bendixsen Life

Stephanie Claire Bendixsen (born 31 March 1985) is an Australian video game journalist and writer best known for her work as one of the original creators of the game television series Good Game and Good Game: Spawn Point, where she went by the gamertag "Hex" and screenPLAY.

Bendixsen is currently working as a host for National Geographic.

Early life

Bendixsen was born in Sydney, New South Wales, to an Argentinian father Axel Bendixsen and a Dutch mother Winifred Margaretha Klinkhamer. When she was two years old, she and her family moved to Auckland, New Zealand, where she lived until the age of nine when she returned to Australia. She aspired to be a equestrian as a child due to her obsession with horses. In adolescence, her parents refused to allow her to play any kind of video games, and she'd sneak out of home to her friends' house to play games with them. Bendixsen discovered Lensmoor, a Multi-user dungeon video game, when she was fifteen years old, and she became addicted to it. In addition, Bendixsen encouraged her classmates to participate in the game, causing her to continue playing the game late into the night and eventually passing out of exhaustion during class. When her teacher alerted her parents, she was sent to therapy, she came to a halt.

Bendixsen became interested in the arts after they provided her with some degree of escapism. She studied acting at Western Sydney University with the intention of obtaining a basic arts degree. Bendixsen, on the other hand, did not complete her studies and spent full time in a call center.

Personal life

Bendixsen's Gamertag "Hex" stemmed from her love of spellcasters and their common feature in a spell called "Hex," whereby an enemy will be afflicted by a curse that may cause injury or immobilize its current state. Hex now plays more stealth-based characters, such as a Rogue or Thief, but Hex prefers to keep the name as a nickname.

Bendixsen's former production manager Peter "Pierreth" Burns started a relationship in 2012 with Good Game's former production manager Peter "Pierreth" Burns. The two were engaged in February 2019, and they married on August 17, 2019.

Stephanie Bendixsen Career

Career

The ABC conducted a nationwide search for television presenters to host ABC3, and Bendixsen auditioned for one of the positions in 2009. She discovered that the ABC2 video game critique show Good Game was also looking for a host while shooting her audition video. After auditioning for the position of a judge on ABC 3's talent search Me on 3, Bendixsen was approached by the ABC for the Good Game host role. She applied for—and received—the position of replacing former host Jeremy Ray as a long-loved fan of the show herself. Bendixsen was also a co-host for ABC3's spin-off Good Game: Spawn Point, aimed at younger audiences.

On October 26, 2009, she made her debut for Good Game and then Good Game: Spawn Point, as host Steven "Bajo" O'Donnell. Bendixsen revealed her departure from the show in January 2017, resulting in its cancellation.

Bendixsen brought back former Good Game co-host Jeremy "Junglist" Ray in 2009, even though it was originally planned that she would join the two hosts rather than replacing one of them. Bendixsen's viewers of Good Game were enraged by Ray's forced withdrawal from the show due to this incident.

On Channel Seven, Bendixsen would debut screenPLAY, a new video game television service. On June 19th, the exhibition was first broadcast online. ScreenPLAY was cancelled on the 30th of April 2018.

Bendixsen and her coworkers introduced Back Pocket, a web gaming showcase, in which she and her coworkers deliver video game-related news and gameplay in 2020. The show is funded by the audience, which is reflected in Patreon's membership portal.

Bendixsen wrote a monthly gaming column for Dolly magazine and appeared in People You May Know, an online mini-series.

Bendixsen developed and presented How To Be A Fan With Hex in 2016. Dangerous Night, also directed a fan film based on the 1982 film Blade Runner, which pays homage to the 1982 film Blade Runner. In addition, she has co-written four children's books with her former Good Game co-host Steven "Bajo" O'Donnell, including Dig World and Dragon Land, which were released in 2016, and Space Fortress, which was published in 2018.
